K 500mm- a demonstaration

I just thought I'd have a bit of fun with this lens before I actually use it. It came in on Wednesday, but it looks like I'll be needing an even larger tripod

I'll try to get some moon shots later today, but until then, here's what I came up with:

How many 50mm's long is the 500mm? Answer: 10!

Enjoy!

Nice.

Mount a target palm rest on it & it should settle down just fine...if not, add a butt hook & / or with a shoulder stock to the camera body... .

Looking forward to your test & evaluation!

adam, did it come with a case? i bought a giottos padded tripod case for mine for about 35usd..
looks just like mine, almost perfect condition..
i'm using an amvona/dynatron 858 set of legs and it works great..
i've found that it takes quite a bit if time and use to develope the neccessary technique to use this lens. it's a fun lens to use.. go ahead-- reach out and touch some one..
oh, my avatar was shot with this lens from about 80meters.

I took a few shots at South Mountain Park today, and they'll be up soon. The results were positively surprising

What a coincidence- I also bought a tripod case for it today. It didn't come with a case, and the front cap (from KEH) is on order. The lens itself is in near mint condition

Nope, not at all loose.

the case i got is about 12'' too long so what i do is throw a couple of cased smaller lenses in the part of the case that folds over.. i'm a woodworker and eventually i'll build a box for mine probably out of some of the exotic woods i have.

Congrads Mo. That lens is BIG in deed. Not sure how you gonna carry that around with other * lenses! Hehe

Your analogy of 10 50mm really show how big this lens is. Will pop in the post a pic section to see what it can do.

p.s. I already see what it can do with Roy's 500mm. It is a sharp lens in deed but require a lot of skill to use it.

Not only is it hard to carry in the field, it's also hard to handle at home or in the car.

I'll gave to get used to this one

LBA convinces you that you really do need every variant.
