Decided to sale DA35/2.8 macro limited.
To say honestly, I have FA43/1.9 which better DA35 in every aspects.
And if you have FA43, no need to buy DA35. IMO.

DA35 is dull for me. But paradox that it's very GOOD lens.

As for picture, it is close to FA77 - (to my mind)
I mean contrast, semitones, resolution. Well-balanced.
Bokeh is differ, of course, and 77's bokeh is more funny. To shoot macro - DA35 is too short, to use as a universal lens - FA43 is better. Sharper, more contrast, more colours, very different bokeh - from surrealistic till classic. And FA43 is fast.
No chances. DA40 I think it's better too.

DA35 is ideal for jewelry or objects. Maybe good for landscapes.
I don't see any weakness and I don't see any secrets.
No "raisin" in this dish. No something special.
It's not pancake lens, and it's not classical LIMITED. I don't understand why DA35 has mark "LIMITED". It looks like marketing trick.

Actually, I kind of believe you there.

I think you are suggesting that this lens lacks the overall IQ just like Fa 35mm f2 vs Fa 31mm ltd. To me, Fa 43 ltd does back focus a lot and it is quite low contrast wide open. However, Fa 43 ltd is hard to beat.

Thanks for the honest opinion of this macro. I was quite keen to get this lens for some jewellery shot against some nice backdrop. Now I might just stick to your opinion.

I have noticed that your lenses start at Normal/Medium telephoto being the 43 to the 135. Do you not shoot wide angle? You are missing a wonderful opportunity in not doing so. In looking at your collection, I would suggest you invest in the Pentax DA 16-45 f4.0 lens. Very sharp and reasonably priced. Shoot at f4.5 and above it is excellent.

I'm happy with AF of FA43 at k200D. Very accurate.
No more problems like at *ist DS.

Unless you want wider, or closer focus, or quick shift focussing.

DA 35 is much better for me than FA 43, in fact it's become my favourite lens. Can go out with just this lens on the K10D and get creative.

Benjikan is right. Couldn't live without a wide angle! Love my 16-45 and 10-17. Eyeing that 12-24.

I found the same thing with the 35... dark. S'all good though, lots of people seem fine with that. Wasn't for me either.

As a counter-point to the pro-wide angle camp I feel the distance detail gets too tiny and the foreground too large by relation with anything south of 24 or so. To me, the 31 is the perfect wide angle. If I absolutely need to see everything around me at once, I'd splice to preserve detail (which doesn't take as long as correcting for distortion if it matters, and it usually does for me if I need a wide shot)

Said with such certainty! Sorry, but for me the DA35 was more useful. I could have bought the FA43 for less, but I found the focal length to be awkward for my needs. Love the DA35, already my favorite lens

The DA40 is prized $150 below the FA43... I think that those two lenses are real rivals.

I've about got my 43 sold (just waiting on payment) and I plan on picking up the DA35 pretty soon. I agree, I think it'll be a more useful lens for the way I shoot. At some point, I'll probably pick up a FA50/1.4 to have around when I really need something I can shoot in low light.

I went on ahead and pulled the trigger on the DA35. Since Prodigital will let you bypass Paypal and pay directly with a CC, I'm having it sent to my parents' house in Tennessee where I will be week after next. If it by chance shows up before I get there next Saturday, then it'll be waiting on me.
