The Helios 40-2 is my favourite lens. I try to carry it with me all the time, and I would, if it would not be so heavy!

Zorki 4k with Jupiter 12 (35mm f2.8). Kodak T-Max 400@800
Flare is really bad, but it's very sharp

Zorki 4k with Jupiter 8 (50mm f2). Kodak T-Max 400@800

Pentax K10D with Helios 40-2 85mm f1.5:

I suppose the Tair 300 A might be worthy of mention and a couple of samples shown off.

Lovely colors with the Mir-1B I have the silver Mir-1. And I some much love it for its rendering and character that I call it a Russian Limited.

About six months ago I sold it together with some other lenses in order to fund the FA 43mm Limited. But then I bought one again because I just missed it so much.

One of the limitation of the Mir-1 and Mir-1B is that it can only focus down to 0.7m which is not enough for bokeh shots. The one I have now was likely modified for a better minimum focus distance while still keep the focus to infinity intact.

Voe, I remember when you were selling the MIR and PhotoSnaiper. I'll have to thank you for starting this thread as I've gotten a dose of the Russians lens bug and not own quite a few old Soviet lenses.

Great shot, and I also bought it for the kids.

The K3 screen, did it focus exactly where it should from scratch, or did you need adjustments?

Wandered into this thread and decided to make a leap of faith.

Although I am already in the Russian lens club with a Zenitar 16mm FE, I decided to join the Helios and M42 clubs simultaneously with a purchase of a Helios 44M-6 MC using the eBay bucks I had amassed last quarter.

I sure hope it gets here before fall is over!

I am looking forward to reading your impressions of the Helios 44M-6 MC. I have the 44M (eight-blade, non-MC) and really like it.

Wow you are doing great with that Helios...

You have the K7, have you used Live View and zoomed in with the wheel for focus?
I do it on my K20, but at the roadshow I tried it on the K7 and the digital zoom-in feature was so good that I could nail focus even in a low light hotel room... Just wondered if you have tried it.
