The prices are in EURO.
The dealers already have prices, not lenses.

Several online stores in Germany offer these lenses for pre-order (delivery "several weeks") for approx. 1100€ and 440€.

I called several stores but couldn't get any information if they guarantee these prices once the lenses are available.

Why be an early adopter and pay more?
I'd rather wait until I can go to a store and test several copies before making a buying decision. Price would have stabilised by then and as lenses are global products, one can buy from any place in the world and benefit from currency and price differences.

Couldn't agree more

Especially for lenses that cost >1000€ ...... that said, I think it is still interesting to see the suggested prices for new lenses. First of all, I don't think the "stabilized" price for a 60-250 F4 will be below 1000€ (and if, not a lot).
Second, for all those who don't absolutely need the lense, but consider it a "nice to have", it helps determining whether it remains a dream or may be a realistic thing to purchase.

At least, that is why I take a look on pre-order prices. But again, you're absolutely right : no hurry - no bad surprises.
