DA*60-250/4 - FF, sharp and fast.

Some of Russian Pentaxians tried to DA*60-250/4 at St.Petersburgh Photo Fair at October, 23-26.

1. Sharp at f/4 at all focal lenghts.
2. Fast, faster than DA17-70, 16-50 and 50-135.

Assume you mean sharp at f/4 at all focal lengths...

What abaout FF. How did they test that?

Not to start another crop vs FF discussion, but that would be a killer criterium for me as at the price it will be I would want to keep that lens for at least a decade and be prepared for everything the future might bring.

Thanks - Memira

That link could be about Mary Poppins for all I know - don't read Russian, and there are no images loading for me.

Sorry to bother again but I dont speak russian and dont want to use a crapy online translation

Given the fact that even the DA 18-55 is lighting FF as from around 24mm (At least in the viewfinder of a film camera) the question is rather what quality have the corners?

I think I wil only truely believe its FF capable once somebody tried it with good results with an adapter on a FF C*non...

How is this lens FF?

And how much faster is it? Is it a new type of SDM?

The focus is super fast (compared to other Pentax SDM) because the focus throw is quite short, so the motor doesn't have to move the focus control as much as on other SDM lenses.

You can trust my information. The lens are planned on sale in 2-3 week in Russia.
DA*55 will be later. AF of DA*55 is worse.

I ran the page through 2 different translators,

it says the AF is faster than the 50-135, 16-50 and 17-70, possibly a tad faster than the da 300, no mention of what camera he tested it on but he says it's sharp, Not very conclusive but OGL probaby knows the guy and can tell us more ( unless he's under nda lol ).

There was some mention comparing it with the 100-300 sigma but I'm not sure what that was about as the translators gave me 2 different wordings for that nor some other hints about the lens in there. I just hope to see some real image samples soon and for someone to send phtozone a copy to play with.

the problem here is the short focus throw is a double edged sword. MF'ing this will be a bitch.

much like my Sigma 28mm F1.8, the focus throw is very short, and the lens is a pain to MF.

which means you HAVE to rely on autofocus, which kind of sux.

they should have simply installed limiters, like the canon tele-zoom lenses.

Some people might want to use it on their current film cameras (those that can control aperture from the body). Of course, that's if this lens also has screwdrive focus (I'm too lazy to check on this).
