Announced: Tamron 60mm f/2.0 Macro

Now this is a lens I would love to have. No word about a Pentax mount so the waiting begins.

They HAVE to introduce a K-mount version of it. And make it cheap.

Interesting. I just recently pondered why there were so few macro lenses faster than f/2,8.

making a macro lens fast only makes it more versatile, and more expensive.

true macro work certainly does not need 2.0, or 2.8.

Actually, f/2.0 makes a lot of sense for an APS-C replacement for a 90mm full-frame "portrait macro": the DOF of a 90mm lens at f/2.8 on full-frame is about the same as the DOF of a 60mm at f/2.0 on APS-C.

My favorite item from the spec sheet: "Lens Food" is an included accessory!

Dammit...that looks good! <drool>

Wonder how it will perform against the Sigma 70 though...

I was going to post a thread about this. Good thing I searched it first.

It looks like a sweet lens. Hopefully it performs well. Any guesses on price?

Sounds a new lens to play around with. Can't wait

It is 1:1 macro with AF ability. Funny that CZ 50mm f2 macro is only 1:2 macro, without AF!

This is the APS-C equivalent of Tammy's famous 90mm f/2.8 "macro portrait lens". If they keep the street price around $400 they will sell a ton of them to Pentax users. They'll need to make it in P/KAF mount first though

I applaud Tamron for taking advantage of APS-C, namely being able to make faster, slightly smaller lenses. It's the whole point of APS-C and I like to see a commitment to the format in the shape of a prime (super zooms and 18-50mm f/2.8 type lenses don't count for this).

With Pentax falling far behind Sony with no momentum in sight, we're often going to be on the outside looking in for 3rd party lens support for the forseeable future.

Tamron will probably make a sale from me if they produce this in K mount.

It's nice to see some more primes from Tamron too.

I've recently read Sony have a majority stake in Tamron Corp. They rebadge some Tamrons for their economy lenses, kinda like a Tokina - Pentax deal, except they still produce Tamrons in Sony mount.
