I've gone and done it!

I finally bought the Tamron 10-24 and I love it. It has given me a new perspective on the world and has virtually not left my camera since day 1.

Anyway here's a selection of the pics I've taken so far.

Thank you very much for posting these.

Hard to tell sharpness from these samples but I mean it seems OK. I have to say though, it does look like Tamron 'consumer lemns' colour ... that muddy colour look I seem to note with Tamron lenses.

Even before reading Alfisti post the first thing that came to my mind is the lack of sharpness I would have expected. And of course the tendency for Pentax to underexpose didn't help, Active D lighting would have been great for these shots, could be my monitor though. I shouldn't have looked at a D60 or D300 today...

The color gradation of the sky in the 2nd and 3rd photos doesn't seem natural. Is there a reason for this and what is the solution for getting better sky exposure?

I like the photos but would agree the colour in all of them seems a bit odd. Skies are very blue, more so than I would expect even with a polarizer.

Odd colours can be done in PP. Very nice shots.

The un-natural graduation of the sky is down to holding a Cokin A121 Graduated ND filter in front of the lens to stop the sky burning out. Some Vibrance and Clarity was boosted along with levels adjustments in PP.

This lens does get a fair bit of criticism from a lot of people but the deciding factor for me was a direct comparison review with a Nikkor alternative in Amateur Photographer. The Tammy got 87% against the Nikkors 89% in the test and summing up "The difference in brands are often in philosophy, Tamron have always gone for pictoral, less aggressive image quality....Tamron has been able to offer significant competition in performance and notably, in cost."

I guess then, I am a fan of Tamrons Pictoral image quality and of course pricing!!

Thanks for posting these! you're making my lens buying choice a little harder!! I thought I was settled on the Sigma 10-20mm
