Leica Lens Club

As no one else here has done it yet, I find it a great pleasure to start the Leica Lens Club. Leica as one of the greatest optic manufacturer should have a separate thread showcasing photos made with its lenses.

I will start with two B&W photos made with the first version of Leica R Summicron 50mm f/2. These photos though technically imperfect are two of my favourite B&W photos and I start this thread with them as a tribute to James (Roentarre) who lent me his lens and started the Leica fever

Memories of the old

In the shadow of the silhouette

Two days ago my Leitax adapter arrived and I installed it on my newly acquired Leica R Summicron 50mm (single cam).

Yesterday I decided to take it for a ride, nothing fancy just a few shots to check colors and resolution.

The shots posted bellow are not intended to be artistic. Also there is no post processing of any kind, just export from RAW. All photos are taken at f/5.6. Under each photo I provided the link to the original size and I urge you to have a look at it just to have an idea of the sheer corner and center resolution as well as the stunning contrast and colors this lens provides.

I'm impressed by the astonishing center and corner sharpness of the Leica Summicron 50mm f/2. I also find the colors and contrast very pleasing.

I hope this thread continues with other peoples photos made with the great Leica lenses.

Thanks,

Voe

P.S. Almost forgot to mention that I focused using live view on my K7 and the focus is in the center.

Can you brief us on what sort of adapter is needed? What kind of mount are we dealing with? A picture on a Leica mount will go a long way to spread our LBA thoughts high on more lens and thin out our crush for the new cameras

[update:] Yes, I visited the http://leitax.com/ link before and I find the site extremely informative and engaging with eyes rolling for more lens

Warmest,
Hin

Yo Voe nice idea,
and I hope some people show up here. I understand you now have the first and the second version of the 50/2 Summicron. Noticed any differences ?

Here's my one and only Leica lens, the first version 50/2 Summicron on K100D. I'd say this lens is special in 3D and colors.

I was after the 80/1.4 Summilux but have given up on it (considering the Minolta AF version now .-)

Best, Georg (the other)

That adapter is the most awesome thing I have seen in...just about forever. My LBA just got so much worse.

Leitz Elmarit-R 1:2.8/135

Typical Leica lens. Well constructed with build in hood. Good resolution wide open. Quite lot CA especially in winter scenery.

All shots f2.8

You've just made my day. I am ready to buy a K7 with DA*50-135. Knowing I can get the leicatax adapter for my Leica 35, 50 and 90 lens more than confirms the deal. I had considered the DA*35 Macro instead of the zoom, but the adapter will round out everything nicely for me. Great photos. I will be adding some soon.
Cheers

There is no much into it. I adjusted contrast and brightness. There was a myst in the air at the time of taking the photo, but it was dry. I think I should have used Av mode.
