Thanks Audiobomber. Yes, this is the quality I am talking about! The Rodenstock is in the same price range as the MC Helio. Got it from TheCameraStore in Calgary actually. You don't want to put a crappy filter on a lens like this.

Also fits the DA21mm, DA35mm, FA43 and many more great lenses.

Yeah, I bought one B&W 49mm CPL that fits all five of my prime lenses. But I'm wondering now if I should have gotten a 52mm and 49-52mm adapter instead.

Da15

Time to get a couple of shots into this thread -

Mini Singapore pano, three DA15 shots stitched

My local MRT (= Underground = tube = subway) station, converted in Lightroom

Both shot on a group outing of local Pentax people this morning (yes it was hot), with KX (see thread on Clubsnap)

A super wide angle lens can really do wonders sometimes:

Hi Tim. What bag is that? What can it carry? I like that it's not very thick.

Dan it's a Crumpler 'Five Million Dollar Home'. Available various non-offensive colours. Very handy for travelling light but it will only take body with zoom mounted, plus one more zoom or a couple of primes. It suits me, but it's no good if you're doing a long trip or need to carry more than minimum gear.

Cheers, Tim

I am interested in this lens, but wanted to know if it is possible to put a 49mm to 58mm step up on it to be able to use 58mm ND filters (and possibly use a Cokin like filter system if the step up ring clears the hood when retracted) or is this not possible due to the hood?

Henrik I think the answer is no. I tried to put a 49-52 step up on it, but the built-in lens hood projects on two sides and prevents you from doing it (the screw-in lens cap is designed in such a way as to accommodate that). So unless there is some way of removing the lens hood I can't see any way of doing it.

RE: stup-up

The FA 31 has a similar hood situation. Some users have found that by taking the glass out of an old filter you can extend the threads forward enough to attach whatever else you wanted to use instead. You might have to stack a couple filters, but probably not in the case of the DA 15. The 15 is awfully wide, so the new issue won't be whether you can stack, but whether the stacking causes vignetting.

So if you've got an extra 49ø filter lying around, you can give it a go.
