I am looking for a wide angle lens...

The 18mm from the kits lens isn't doing it for me.
Do you have any portraits from lenses that are wider than 18mm?

i would love to see them...

What possible reason would you have to do portraits wider than 18mm, let alone anywhere NEAR 18mm?

You can do anything you want, but at those focal lengths, I wouldn't call them portraits as traditional use of that term generally applies.

I think you want the DA 10-17, and there 's a thread with examples.

the messy background isn't very professional, but my model won't work in a studio, candid shots only!

Tamron 10-24 @ 11mm, iso 800, f/5.6, 1/15s shutter

I am uncertain on what should be qualified as portrait but there are countless people shots have been taken with wide angles in Japan, and the trend have spread through some other parts of asia. Many of them are damn good eye candy too.

My favour was 24mm on film, or 16mm for aps-c.

This sort of thing is an acquired taste, I'd say, but here's a self-portrait with the DA15:

Of course, if you don't actually shoot from so close, the effect is nowhere near as dramatic, but then, what would be the point?

I took this with the 18-55DAL I would love to get more of everything else, without going fisheye...

Go to a magazine stand and look at portraits from People, Time, or women's magazines. Most of them use WA lenses up close in indoor settings. Something like the 12-24.

The kit lens portrait is great!

Another option: Zenitar 16/2.8, and defish.

Another option: DA 10-17 and defish. How close dare you go?

Another option: Set drive mode to continuous, shoot closer-up with kit at 18, pan up, stitch.

Another option: Shoot really close video, panning around. Use animation warez to extract frames. Stitch.

Then there are things that can be done with mirrors.

i think your only wide angle choices for zoom are DA 10-17 and DA 12-24

Those are the only Pentax choices (unless you count the 16-45 and 16-50 zooms), but go to Tamron and Sigma and severla more options present themselves.
