Sigma 24-70 F2.8 DG EX

Anyone have this Lens in their collection? If so how has it performed, mainly with Pentax Digital bodies, but occasionally Film Bodies.

I am looking to buy one, but would to know

I have it and its a great lens. It is on my K100D most of the time for general photography. I love the f/2.8 at all zoom and the built quality. Some have complained about the IQ but I don't see any problem with mine. The only thing that I would change if I can is to make the lens smaller and lighter. I am a pretty big guy but when I first handled this lens it felt too big and heavy for a walk-around lens. I got used to it and is not a major problem but still wish it was lighter.

Before I bought the lens I did a lot of research on it. I found out that there was TWO version of this lens, the older non macro version and the updated macro version. A few canon user reported some defects with the older non macro version and said the IQ on the newer macro version was a lot better.

I finally got it last Friday and used it over the weekend. Although it might be a bit big for some, I found it perfect. well balanced with my K10D and oh so sharp images, no need to use unsharp mask in PS. the F2.8 through the range and the (semi) macro abilities are also good.

If anyone is considering this and cannot wait for the DA* 16-50 Lens, then go for it.

I'm inclined to ask: is this lens as good as the Tamron 28-75/2.8? I'm looking to acquire either of these two, since the DA* are as of yet out of my budget.

From what Ive seen the Tamron looks better. And the sigma 18-50 perhaps looks better than that again.

Just dont get the sigma 28-70, I have that one and its terrible.
