Hi, I just noticed something weird with my K-x video mode and I want to share it. When I use the DA limited, I click the shutter and the mirror flips down and back up. It bothered me but now I'm OK with it

Now, I dusted off my DA-L lenses (18-55 and 55-300), and with those, the mirror doesn't flips on the shutter click. This is great because the camera doesn't make a sound.
Now, I tried with my other lenses and the old Pentax-M the mirror moves, the Tamron 18-250 also. The only one that doesn't flips is a mirror lens. Also without any lens, but thats not useful

Now my question, why does it sometimes move ??????? What is wrong with the DAL that make it so great for video? They should make an FW update that fixes this for every lens, it's clear it works.

I'd say that your old lenses have a metal mount (but no data or A connection, obviously), whereas your mirror lens certainly have an insulated mount (and so mimics the bare mount behavior).

There is something I noticed later last night. With the 18-55mm DAL, the mirror always moves at 18mm but rarely does at 55mm. With the 55-300 it never does.
I still can't figure why.
I'll test today with longer than 55 with the tamron.

I think you should set in Menu LiveView the AF to contrast AF.

I'm in contrast detect. I'm even using manual focusing.
Does anyone else can start filming without the mirror flipping?
I'm not sure if something is wrong or if it's normal.
