Smc-a 24/2.8

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
SMC-A 24mm f/2.8

Asking Price
$120 USD

Item Location
Portland, OR (United States)

Item Description
price include USA shipping - a smidge more for sales elsewhere.

$120 - SMC-A 24mm f/2.8 bought from keh, both caps - VG optics, a bit of paint loss on rim of aperture ring and by filter ring[/B]

Images show some short scratches/ marks on front element; personally I see no effect on image quality, but the price is lowered to reflect this.
Check the average cost on the review page - this price is $100 below the average and $30 less than I paid from the KEH.com ugly bin.

Both zooms are gone! Still have the SMC-A 24/2.8 and SMC-A 50/1.7.

Someone pointed out that the 24mm has a slight indent along the filter ring; my test reveals no binding at all when a filter is attached, but cosmetically it's there. Image quality with both these primes is excellent, but the DA40 and Tamron 17-35mm lenses are good enough to serve in their stead.

I presumed them to be cleaning marks, and if I wipe them someone will point out the streaks
Given your comment I gave it a gentle cleaning, and a couple of spots are still there, so they probably are scratches not just dust. If I were to focus at minimum distance and shoot f/22 it might show under the right circumstances, but I don't do such things. This is about what I paid and I felt very fortunate, but the Tamron 17-35 has put it on the shelf most days.

I promise no intent to mislead sellers here. I have used lenses with more damage than this and seen no imaging penalties.

The 50mm has sold - I will wait for feedback then withdraw the 24. I'd rather use it myself than take the loss for used/damaged prices.
At least now I know why it was so cheap compared to the average SMC-A 24!
Thanks everyone!
