It would seem these guys have quite a bit of personality when you get this close to them. Kind of cute.

Nice shot mate

I still like the first one better. Really nice use of dof and sharp details!

Thanks! For those of you that have facebook, here was my first every sighting of a jumping spider. It was taken when I first got my sigma 105mm. I'd say I've progressed (don't have the image anywhere else but on facebook)

Yikes- that creeps me out, which means you did a good job. I love the colours, but I wish there were a greater depth of field. It looks like you used flash- was using a smaller aperture not an option?

Have you ever attempted this type of photography at this magnification? Dont' take that the wrong way, Im just curious

At this mag. everyone focus stacks for more DOF. Sadly I do not know how to do this.

This was at F/14 for the sigma macro and F/2.8 for the reversed 50mm I used. Any more and diffraction would have taken hold of the image..... at least in my experience.

Oh, I know what dof is like at this level (I have taken shots with a similar setup and similar results), I guess I just wasn't doing the math in my head; I stand corrected.

Yeah, still trying to find solutions to my light and DOF/diffraction issues at this mag. Maybe Rense has the answers?
