At the Zoo with a K-5 & K-x
Posted By: einstrigger, 12-08-2010, 10:30 AM

For a brief weekend of bliss, I had my grubby hands on a K-5 and decided to take it for a test drive at the San Diego Zoo. Most of the time, I had the DA-L 55-300mm (the one that comes with the K-x) and I was very impressed considering I hardly every used that lens in the past. In addition, I finally taught my wife how to focus lock and recompose, so she had a blast going through the park with the K-x and the DA 18-250mm.

Without looking at the exif, see if you can guess which photos were from the K-5 vs. the K-x

Thanks for looking!

Wow great photos!!! I really love the last two. I should really use my 55-300 more often! Just one question - any pp?
Some basic post processing was done, mainly some fill light and sharpening. Aside from that, a couple photos were cropped. The 55-300mm is a great lens for the zoo, especially attached to a k-5 or k-x. TAv mode on the K-5 is awesome.

You have some beautiful shots there! My favorites would have to be the Hippo, Panda and the 4 Giraffes!

I have to admit I love the duplicity of the 4 Giraffes eating!
Isn't that quadroplicity?

Les frères Dalton!!! Thats funny!!!

For our friends who do not speak French, the "Dalton Family" is from a french series of funny comic books called "Lucky Luke" about a cowboy and his trusty horse. The Daltons are four brothers and are the completely inept "bad guys".

I have to admit I still can't get over those giraffes, it just looks so cool!
