A day at the Zoo
Lens: DA L 55-300 Camera: K-x Photo Location: National Zoo, Washington DC
Posted By: RonakG, 02-21-2011, 08:32 PM

Visited the National Zoo at Washington DC last weekend. Amazing place for animal lovers.

Here are some photos I like. All taken using my DA L 55-300mm lens hand-held.

7 months young lion cubs. There were total 7 of them. They were playing with each other all the time. Never bothered with all the crowd that was gathered to watch them.

Look at those expressions.

Yeah, the 55-300 is a good piece of glass. Only downside so far for me has been it's focus hunting at the long end of the zoom. Sometimes it takes as long as 3 to 4 seconds to focus. The focus motor is noisy to and coupled with noisy shutter of K-x, they are a real noisy combo .

I used to get instant attention from folks around whenever I was firing in hi-continuous shooting mode.

The Cheetah is my favorite too.

Love this series. As said before, they are nicely framed and could have been taken in the wild. Thanks for posting them.
