Super Moon!
Lens: Tamron Adaptall-2 SP 60-300mm f/3.8-5.4 (23A) Camera: K-x Photo Location: Lubbock, TX ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/125s

I don't know if everyone has heard about the "Super Moon," but it's when the Moon is full and at its closest distance to Earth in its elliptical orbit (it has been in the news recently, but I had never heard of it until I read about it last week). I thought I was going to miss out on it due to bad weather that was due in in Lubbock, but fortunately the sky had cleared up after it threatened to rain and I went for it. It looks like any other picture of the Moon, but I wanted to get a shot of it anyways.

You scored that shot fairly well, I like it.

Here's my shot of the moon with my K200D and the DA 55-300mm f/4-5.8 zoom. Handheld, IS on, manual focus, 300mm, ISO 100, f/8, 1/1000th of a second. Taken just before 3:00am this morning, New York time. Cropping, some sharpening and exposure adjustment in iPhoto.

Frankly, I thought I was at ISO 800 but apparently not. But I think I'm glad I was at ISO 100. I took an identical shot with my Panasonic G1 at that setting and the same aperture and shutter speed and the details were't as good. It wasn't the camera it was the exposure.

For some reason I have problems uploading sharp images from iPhoto, which is why I don't post many shots here. It looks like it won't be too bad, but it's not 100% as sharp as it was on my computer. Looks like I've got a hot pixel as well. Without cropping, that wouldn't be noticeable.

Are you shooting RAW? iPhoto gave me issues as well the other day when I tried to upload some RAW shots to my Picasa Web Album. I ended up having to convert it to convert the files to PNG instead of JPEG and then upload. Once crappy pixelated photos now look stunning on my Web Album.
