Starkly eroded landscape? Or just hallucinations?

I like #3 best. Why does the sky look half lit half dark? Was it cloudy?

Particularly like 3 and 4, though I'd crop off some foreground in the last one.

Perfect scale.
Brings the viewer into the landscape and not just to the landforms.

Made me think of a world before computers, cars, cites, religion or language. A time and place where the only imperative was adapt or die. A time and place where nature was very big and man very small.

At once both poetic and cerebral at least for me.
Well done.

These images were treated by the infrared in camera filter. I really like many of them. With insect repellent and water, I could have shot scenes like these for hours. I was hooked on the mood the monochrome conversion gave the images.

These are he "Badlands" of northwestern Nebraska. An area called Toadstool Geologic Park.

We visited there years back, very interesting park. Nebraska is a great place to visit, what other state has the sand hills and Carhenge? I will give that filter a shot, thanks Bob

Sweet expecting T-Rex and some Velociraptor to come peaking around the corners.

Now let's spoil the thread with a few color images and I think most of you will agree that monochrome makes the unusual a bit more interesting.
