This was the Preliminary Final match between the Sunnybank Saints Cyclones vs Beaudesert, and we beat (2-0) a team that beat us 2 weeks ago (0-1). So the Cyclones are now in the Grand Final.
As regards Pentax WR, I shoot this with a K20D & DA* 60-250/F4, both of which are weather-resistant. It drizzled throughout the match. I stood out in the open and shot it. (After all, the players were out in the rain, so I didn't huddle with the other spectators under the pavilion). I had the relatively deep lens hood on to stop gusts of wind depositing rain onto the front of the lens, but the rest of the camera and lens had water dripping off them the whole time (75 mins included setup). I used a tripod, and the lens has a tripod mount, so when I dismounted the K20D body off the big lens, so I can walk around with a DA 16-45/F4 before the match getting shots of both teams practicing/warming-up or the coach talking to them, or at the end when I got both teams together for a group shoot, I just left the big lens on the tripod with the rear lens cap on (and the hood on the front) to stop any stray water getting in.
The DA 16-45/F4 did not have a problem with its lack of WR for the short time I had it out in the rain.
I've boosted the contrast in PP to reduce the dulling effect caused by the rain between the lens and the subject.
