Grrr, one day I'll buy some long glass, but it's never soon enough whenever I see your work Tom. Now we just need to add a camera with a bit better AF speed, 5 FPS and a high resolving CMOS sensor and I think you'd be set

Don't you have to test some of the longer lenses from time to time ?
I mean it's part of your job at the camera shop isn't it?
They should even consider paying you for these tests

I've found that 3fps is plenty for most wildlife shots, although I haven't encountered anything that I'd call fast yet.
In my opinion having a fast LONG lens is more important. Especially since most of the good shots happen in lower light situations.

Tom, how do you get these sharp, focused and extraordinarily well-composed images of fast-moving birds? I simply can't do it. Here's a shot I took of a gull (moving in for a bit of left over dinner) from the cockpit of my docked boat last weekend. The shot is at ISO 800 (because I forgot to reset my K10D after some evening shooting), which contributes to its softness - but still - I just can't catch these characters in focus! What do I need to do?

An amazing capture Tom, the double splash still in the air shows just how fast that bird had to be moving and yet you still caught it. I'm in awe.....

Simply amazing, Tom ! This is a shot that just begs to be printed in a large size, framed, and hung on a wall of your house. Just so you can say "I took that" to visitors
