wonderfully planned out series, great light and compositions. Amazing photography from someone who lives in Tumbleweed.

Just beautiful twilight shots!

I read your plan your shoot post also - a lot of forethought and work involved but your results were well worth it.

Here are a couple more images. Unfortunately, on these two, if you look very closely, the wind is playing with the rigging like a set of banjo strings, and the ship has moved just a bit. Trying to stack a bracketed set of 5 does not work at all. So I went through the individual frames to find the frame that had the least amount of movement. I wanted something for my desktop wallpaper background....

On the second one, you can see the tip of the crane in the far background. A day later, the right hand side was completely filled with a large boom crane, positioned to support some maintenance on board.

The third one is one of the first shots I took right before it started getting dark, and the breeze picked up. The bow spirit has got to be a 100 feet long, it goes right over my head and keeps on going.

Like the 2 nd shot to the left of the 1st series. Unique design and seems to look like the shows, Pirates of the carribean.

This one took some work. This is shot through the security wrought iron fencing, so it was very constrained in terms of composing the shot. I used the Sigma 8-16 and wanted to try to put the ship over to the right hand side - that was a mistake since it captured all the distortion of the lens - in terms of keystoning. I corrected the perspective problem and cropped accordingly. Here is what I have left....

It's hard to match these. I've visited (and photographed) Old Ironsides more than once. I never brought home anything that approached being this good. These are the best shots of the old frigate I've seen in years.

Great job on these photos, I have been up there a couple of times and got a couple of really good photos of the cassin young, but a good picture of old ironsides has eluded me so far.
