Vivitar Series 1 105 macro
Posted By: Igilligan, 02-13-2008, 05:28 PM

Two days with my new/old lens. I am loving this old MF classic. Only a moment to try real macro but I used it for some portrait stuff at work...
And for my daughters first 'real' Haircut.

I had a computer crash and lost my PP program with it, so these are pretty much straight from the camera or cropped a bit. I cant even sharpen the web resizes until I get my computer up and running again....

Oops forgot the macro

These are handheld and no sharpening after resize... I cant wait to get my computer working and be able to really play with this lens... but I like what I see so far.

Can't see your second set of photo's . In the first set , the first and last are the best ! Love the concerned look on your daughters face and the last one is well just silly. Well done.

Can anyone see the second shots?

thanks dave, her concerned look lasted thru the entire cut and was brought on because in the car, I told her she had to sit still and not move when they were cutting her hair... if she moved it might cause them to cut too much off.....
She sat there almost motionless just looking in the mirror with a very serious look the whole time...

I can see them, but it could just be because they are on this computer... I could not see them on my friends computer either

How do you link to shots that are in your attachment file???

Never mind I will just re-post them

I will try the macros again...

These are hand held and no sharpening at all since my computer is dead...

Looks like a great lens. For untouched photos I'd say you have a winner here.

You got some nice shots there. This is one of my favorite lenses as well. The only thing that keeps me from using it more is it's so dang heavy. You really get a workout lugging that thing around!

Hey Fritz, it is a monster on weight. And my copy has some CA/PF issues in high contrast situations. But it is fun getting these results. I have a beautiful copy of the older 90mm with the matching macro adaptor. It is a work of art. But you have to remove the adaptor to use it for portrait mode, which is a drag when I am shooting a bug and then want to turn and shoot the kids playing in the yard.

Thanks Peter, I did crop some and I had attempted a slight contrast adjust with an "office picture program" but it did not really work. A new computer has got to be in my future.

Thanks Evan, dont know what kind of bug it is, but it and the little inch worm were the only ones braving the weather. Did your 28-75 sell?

Thanks RBellavance, I have never seen her so serious... I must have scared her with my sit still warning. She never talked or smiled thru the whole experience, but then when we were in the car she said " that was fun papa "

I keep on looking for one of them in an M42 mount, but haven't found one when I've had the coin.

And the very similar-looking Small Eastern Milkweed Bug (also shot with a Vivitar 105)

Ray - you'll love that lens!
