Posted By: GLThorne, 02-18-2008, 07:39 PM

Since I posted this in another post as part of a reply, I figured I'd post here as well.

Feel free to post your moon shots as well if you'd like. The one in the sky that is!!

I shoot a couple of quick ones

Tamron 70-300di and tamron 1.4 tele, for some reason my old viv 400 was not giving me the results I wanted so I had to settle for these... usually the old one does great on moon shots

My first moon shot

Well, here is my first moon shot... or at least one of the better of the bunch. Shot with a Vivitar 70-210 4.5 (at 210mm.)

Confused the hell outta me trying to get the settings all straight. Once I finally got the shots as I liked them, the focus apparently went off. Didnt realize it till I was back at the screen.

Not a lot of exif info to go on, according to LightZone, 1/500@f1.0 ISO200. Tweaked it a bit in LZ (crop, relight and sharpen.) and resized a bit for posting here.

I Just picked up an old Tamron 500mm f8 Adaptall 2 and put it on the AF1.7 TC for this shot (giving 850mm). haven't really tested the lens much but it seems fairly good. Nice to have trap focus on such a long FL. This thing is small and light as well. So here's the 2nd shot taken with the "new-to-me" lens:

Hoping to use it for the eclipse if the weather clears up.

These shots are all excellent. Enough to make one ponder the purchase of another lens...

Makes mine look so puny (why not clone out that dust spec...)

Not even a February one. Pathetic

Here are two of mine from this month. They were taken with a Tamron 1.4 teleconverter and a 400mm lens. The first one still looks a little blurry to me.

Lunar Eclipse on Wednseday night so I think I will try if the clouds hold off.

"If weather conditions are favorable, the entire eclipse will be visible in South America and most of North America late Wednesday. People in western Europe, Africa and western Asia can view the eclipse before dawn on Thursday.

The U.S. space agency, NASA, says the major stage of the eclipse will last about 50 minutes at 0301 GMT until 0351 GMT." around 10 pm in the EST time zone.

I just spotted this thread at the bottom of a thread I just posted in. Yes, I'm aware the last post was some six years ago, but still, I thought I'd add a couple.

This was taken with a Century Precision Optics Tele Athenar II 500mm f/5.6 T-mount telephoto: 1/125 @ f/11

This was taken shortly after moonrise. It was coming up a blood-red color. Sharpness isn't too good because I had to crank the ISO up to get unblurred photos. Century 650mm f/6.8. I don't recall the exposure.

Taken with a Meade 10" (2540mm) f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain mirror telescope. Tri-X 400 film. Exposure unrecorded, but, considering the burn-through, probably 1/250 second @ f/10.

And while we're at it, how about Jupiter? I managed to catch it and all four of its Copernican moons. Century 650mm f/6.8. Exposure unrecorded.
