My new vivitar 105 f2.5 1:1 macro!
Posted By: libbe, 05-21-2008, 09:25 AM

I received my new viv 105 from Hwblanks here at the forum yesterday! A lovely seller, will buy from her again without any doubts! The lens was nicely packed in its original package, with containing lens holder.

I absolutely love this lens, it is truly AMAZING!
Anyway, i was told to post my first images with it when it arrived, so here they are!
All the images are loaded to the computer through a Adobe RAW conversion, some minor levels changing and a tiny tiny bit of USM.

Hope you enjoyed the images, and please do leave CC. They are all taken handheld, and it is EXTREMELY hard to get focus correct at macro level while crouching, trying to hold the cam steady, and set focus correctly at the same time lol ;/

Wow! I wonder why Heather decided to let this thing go. If ever a lens was "tack sharp" this is it. I can't imagine there being a better lens out there than this one. The fact that it can easily double as a long portrait lens makes it even more attractive. I may have to break down, scrape together some pennies, and get one of these.

Seems like a great lens! Great picures - I like the water droplet and the wristwatch pics most

I read with interest all the comments about the high selling price of this lens.
You buyers in USA dont know how fortunate you are. Some of us in other countries can pay your 'extreme' prices and still be better off.
Prices in Aus, as has been said so often, make yours look like bargain sales of the century.
I recommend that you dont make too much fun of what oseas buyers pay, we are disadvantaged in comparison. Thankfully we can buy over there.

i do agree, it was a BARGAIN for me at 500+tax... As previously said with the prices around here i would end paying 700 for a Sigma 105, and around 1400 for a sigma 180. I REALLY doubt they would be this good, even if i would've wanted AF hehe (but i guess ill grow to love MF after a while using this beauty)

The detail in the watch does it for me. The hunt for one of these lenses is on.

Those are really nice shots. And yes, it's a great lens! It's a bit heavy, but that's ok with me.

That is a great series of shots.

The real question is, of course, how long until Heather buys another one?

Just got one myself, for not much less money. I am posting my first couple of photos with it in an above thread. Yes, I am impressed too Libbe.
Have a look at my shots as well.

Wonderful shots Libbe - the water droplets on the leaf are outstanding.
