Our 2nd stop was Coimbra, about 250km north of Lisbon. On the way, we stopped at the Alcobaça Monastery (a UNESCO World Heritage Site).

The church's interior style is quite minimalist, which makes its size even more impressive.

King Pedro the First lays in this church with his mistress Inés de Castro, who was assassinated by order of Pedro's father.
