Sharks hit by wild storm
Posted By: bonovox, 09-26-2008, 09:16 PM

Sorry if you were hoping for some kind of phenomenal wildlife photo.

Instead I have some photos of my team (Cronulla Sharks) playing against the Melbourne Storm in last nights Rugby League semi-final. We went down 28-0. OUCH! "There's always next year"

My new Sigma 70-200 was the only performance I was happy with!

Thanks for looking

Nice shots. Sharp, though plenty of action. I particularly like the selectively coloured shot.

I am a Knights supporter (see my Avatar) however, I very much wanted your boys to quell the Storm. But, not to be.

You'd think the Storm would've learned their lesson

Like Bramela, I woulda liked to have seen the sharks kick their butts. It's bad enough that the NRL Premiers will prolly not be a NSW team but I just can't bring myself to barrack for Manly

EDIT: Very cool shots but

Great shots. I went to a Bronco's v St George game with my 50-135 and got stopped at the gate. After a discussion with a few officials and showing my corporate box ticket, they let me in. To far away anyway for anything spectacular. They said if i had a P & S, it would be ok. lol. some of them have massive zooms.

I had the camera wrapped up in my jacket in a backpack. Whent the bag was being searched, I just said "it's just a jacket and my camera" and he was happy with that (i.e. he must have assumed it was just a point & shoot).

Conditions of entry state you can't bring pro photo equipment in - but we all know that pentax isn't pro equipment

Great Shots, shure! But how do you know it is a fine lens? Do you have it?

I would have thought the bit about "always have mine in the bag" would make it obvious he does have it!

I have had a request for the exif. It can be found by clicking on "more properties" on flickr:
Cronulla Sharks - a set on Flickr

Note that most shots were stopped sown to f/4, so are not a goood resource for true evaluation of this lens.

However, I stopped down because the light was sufficient - NOT because I was unhappy with f/2.8 performance.

Cheers, Dave

Hmmmm! Not exactly!
I mean the exact lens we are talking about not another version. This is a common missunderstanding in these fora.
