Posted By: Igilligan, 11-11-2008, 03:39 PM

More test images from my wonderful little Helios 44M My backyard refuses to completely give way to Natures desaturation...

OK, A couple on the edge of fall

In full disclosure... some of the really close shots are with the Helios and the sony 3358 on front.

Nice images. I had to check where you were from. Carolina. That explains the flowers. The second shot slowly grew on me. I went back and forth and finally noticed the ant. A bonus to be sure! This from a pro-fall guy, so there!

Gus,

I absolutely love that Dandelion seed puff with the bug.

Too cool.

Nice shots. Enjoy the longer growing season. Our first frost was mid sept. and most flowers said goodbye.

Very nice shots Gus. I like them all but especially like the dandilion with the ant/spider (cant tell which) on it. The luminosity and detail in that shot really makes it stand out. Well done!

Amazing pictures. I have to agree with everyone about the dandelion/insect. But I also really like #2, and the one with the rose. Superb lighting on those two, IMHO.

Nice series. Did you blow on the dandelion and give the ant a ride?

Thanks to all, I do want to mention that the bug on the dandilion is actually a tiny spider and as I watched him, I could see he was weaving a web over the top of those seed floaters. You can kind of see it in this resized for web shot. He was smaller than an ant, and I have no idea what kind of 'food' is drawn to the dandilion but he was working furiously on it. In fact later in the day the wind had blown all the seeds off of it, except the area where his web was... Nature is very strange....

Actually it is northern cali... and we are having a really late fall here... the girls are still eating tomatoes off of the vines... but man we need rain!

Too cool.

Thanks Ray, shot about 4 shots of it and then the spider climbed over from the back. He came out so sharp in this shot that I had to post it.

Thanks James, I love the OOF area with this lens. Even up at F4ish it still has its own 'look'.

We need rain or else there will be no growing season next year, since they will not let us water if the reservoirs dont start filling up. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks Mike... that one ended up being my fave too. That bug ended up making the shot for me.
As I mentioned in the thread above, it was a tiny spider and a busy one at that.

Thanks for the comment... I have no idea where the color on the rose shot came from... The sun was coming in and out of the clouds... It was the only shot in the series that looked like that one did.

I did not blow it... the poor little spider was working so hard on the web, that I did not want to help nature blow his trap down any sooner. A guy's gotta eat
