Following fireworks series M50/F1.7 @ F2, ISO 1600, 1/60s

Last two - changed ISO to 3200. 1/90s

I like those. I saw the sign about closing The Esplanade for New Year's Eve in the week before while I was on my early morning bike rides and wondered what the event would be like. Looks like it was fun.

Is that the bridge to Ephraim Island middle left in #1 and #2? I'm trying to work out where you took the shots from.

Most of the photos I've taken in Paradise Point have been of the toys

across the water.

Yes, it's the Ephraim Island bridge.

1st shot was taken on the floating mooring pontoon.

2nd shoot was still on the pontoon, but closer to the beach.

The fireworks were shot from the northern edge of the inflated floating blue swimming enclosure edge on the wet firm sand. When I sat on the large blue plastic tubing, it was a bit damp.

Thank you, roentarre. This was the fireworks just after 9pm. I didn't stay for the midnight fireworks because I had 4 young kids with me.

This was my first attempt at photographing fireworks. What made it easier on this occasion was that everything exploded at approximately the same height and location so I didn't have to worry about panning around much.

In retrospect, there was a fair percentage of over-exposed shots. A bit quicker shutter speed would have been better. I think ISO 1600 worked well here. ISO 3200 was a noisy in the last shot; less objectionable in the 2nd last shot.

Nice work. I was there as well at 9pm. I was in the park just south of Ephraim Island bridge.

What ISO & shutter time (since you were in Bulb mode) did you use? I don't think F9.5 was necessary here as great DOF was not needed. I like the effect you got anyway.

Hi dosdan,
yes i did post my pics in that thread. I used ISO-100 and I just held the button on the shutter release til there was an explosion and some fall out so ss varied from 2 seconds to about 10 seconds.
As it was also my first time shooting fireworks I did some research that said try an aperture of around f8-f11 so i went in the middle..LOL
