Living on the grave!
Posted By: Rense, 02-28-2009, 06:28 AM

These mosses grow on the graves in a nearby graveyard. Macro-Tak 50mm/4 with extension tubes. What I learned today is that one of the requirements of macro photography are rain trousers....

I also liked the third one best. Worth the wet knees.

Thank you, ThorThum, I think the droplets give the shots something extra...

Susan, thanks! There were not only wet knees. I had to lie at the ground and I was soaked totally...

Nice photos Rense! I really like the 3rd one with the water droplets on the stems.

Whenever I go out to specifically shoot ground level macros (or even if the ground is wet and I *might* take some macros) I try to remember to take a 5'x6' tarp with me - large enough to lay on and small enough to not take up much room.

Great shots. number 3 and 5 are great. Getting all wet and mucky is the fun part of photography? Right?

Excellent series, I love to shoot moss too, they are a world mostly hidden and have a mood of their own.

Chip, thank you! I think I need something like a tarp too. Usually I do my work in rather dry environments, but last days, we had rain and the ground was soaked. Lying in wet grass and bare clay made me ... well ... you can imagine

Scott, Georg, thank you both! This is the first time I seriously try to make photos of mosses, because this is the first time I own a macro lens. I think I like it too, but I'm not sure about the muckyness etc....

Three is good but I really like #2 Rense. Yes, rainpants are required for Macro's. Always have a pair in the car just in case. JIM
