Wide Angle Church Interior
Posted By: maxwell1295, 03-04-2009, 08:51 PM

I was looking at some pics from my recent trip to Germany and noticed that I had taken a couple of photos with 2 different super-wide zooms, but from the same perpective. It wasn't a planned comparison, but I thought it would be pretty neat to post both images here.

One rectilinear, one fisheye.....which do you like better?

Rectilinear even though it's harder to type. The fisheye ruins the perspective and flattens the whole image.

Great job on the symmetry with that shot as well.

hee hee I'll be the contrarian here -- the fisheye captures the spirit of that architecture much better than the 12-24. No question. The rectilinear is competent, but whatever.

And this is from a guy who shoots architecture interiors with the 12-24. You know, I never had much use for a fisheye -- but this fisheye shot of yours has got me thinkin'.

I'm generally not a fisheye person, but it works well in this case--I prefer it.

Hard to choose! The fisheye makes the arches somewhat less perpendicular.... I guess I want to go there with both , but I don't have either

Definitely the Rectilinear. Dramatic handling of an awesome architectural shot.

Fisheye gets my vote. It's the magical ways those pillars bend in the picture. Very stylish.

Rectilinear gets my vote. For me, fisheye does not work for that image.

Another for the rectilinear for me.
FE is better used elsewhere to me, particularly not for when trying to emphasise straight converging lines like here.
Nice captures though.

Fisheye for me but it is a close call. I like the way the sun light comes thorugh most all the windows with the Fisheye. Both shots are very good.
