Mr Zenitar Goes to Washington
Posted By: NaClH2O, 04-18-2007, 06:41 PM

I think most of you know by now that I like my fish eye just a little bit. Here are a bunch of exposures I took of Washington buildings, sculpture, and other scenic bits. Some of the images will be in replies so as to not overwhelm you all at once!
DS with the Zenitar lens, except the two kayak shots (in the Native American Museum reply) that were taken with the FA 50mm 1.4

You can't start a post like this without a cliche!

Part of Smithsonian front and back.

Beautiful sculpture gardens everywhere

Next three taken at the Museum of African Art...I think! We went to so many different museums! And unlike NYC they were all free!

That is my brother-in-law contemplating the beauty

A mandala there, I found it fascinating, I've got at least 10 shots of it!

Two of the sculpture in front of the Air and Space Museum

Another sculpture, this one donated by Venezuela, back when we were friends.

I hope you have half as much fun looking as I did shooting!

Museum of the Native American

I found this museum to be completely compelling, the outside architecture, the main entrance hall, even the cafeteria was superb!

First you come up on a series of waterfalls

Then a river with cliffs along side

The cantilevered roof line/overhanging cliffs

Looking straight up from inside

Me and boats have had a love affair going back decades, any kind of boat. I found the kayak an elegant little craft, made by traditional methods, but using modern materials, The inside frame is not screwed or nailed, but tied together. The skin is special grade waterproof nylon.

Don't get tired yet! There's more to come!

And, finally the National Art Museum, East Wing.

Probably one of the most photographed buildings in Washington, but what the hey, I like cliches every once in a while.

The edge of this wing is so acute they had to block off the path that lead to it, people would always stop and feel it and have actually worn it away a bit! (plus staining it)

another angle, don't know if I like the B&W or the color version better...any input?

One more time! You can see where all the hands have been

Inside a magnificent Calder "mobile"

looking straight up at the skylight and the Calder.

And finally one last cliche to send you on your way.

Hope you had fun! Thanks for looking. If you want more, here's the link to the gallery on my smug mug site.

What did I say? You would use the Zenitar a lot...

And yes, I liked the tour around the museum. Great building and great light for you to work in. Thank you.
