Red-winged Blackbird

I love trying to capture these guys while they are perched on the reeds like this. Not as easy as you'd think trying to get shots without other reeds in the way and them swaying back and forth

Pentax K20D ,Pentax smc DA* 300mm f/4 ED (IF) SDM
1/400s f/5.6 at 450.0mm iso800 (with Kenko 1.5x TC)

Palmor - nothing easy about these guys, they are difficult. I've been trying for ages with little success. Here's my best so far but it pales beside your image. Used the Pentax M 400/5.6 with a Pentax 2X converter for this one.

Palmor,
Nice clean direct shot.

After over 3000 bird shots (keepers I mean) I still don't have a Red-winged Blackbird shot as good as yours. They are almost as difficult as warblers.

Well done.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the feedback/replies . I still want to get a shot of one like this but in one of their traditional "singing poses".

Thanks
John

I have always struggled with these guys. I want the classic shot of it sitting on a puffy bull rush, but until then, this will have to do

K10D - ISO 560 1/180th @F8. Using Sigma 70-200 F2.8 and 2x TC (shot at 400mm)
