Sigma 30mm f/1.4 Out at the Local Brewpub · 10:45 AM

Playing with the new Sigma 30mm f/1.4 at the bar. Probably the perfect lens for these conditions. All at f/1.4 or f/1.7:

A very sharp little lens... worth every penny.

These are really great. What kind of shutter speeds/ISOs were you getting?

ISO 200 or 400, shutter speed 1/30 or 1/45.

Beautiful blur!! I really wish I could afford a new lens. All I have right now is my 18-55 kit lens which it's largest aperture is 3.5 and a 28-105 and it's largest is 5.6. I'd really really really like the 16-50mm 1.8!!! I think it's 1.8??? I can't remember. I just know I want it! Lol!

The Sigma 30's bokeh is definitely sweet, and the 3d'ness of the images are very noticable. I'm loving my copy...and loving your sample images.

I'm gonna go get a drink now...

How did this lens miss my radar. This looks like the perfect indoor / club lens. So sharp and nice colors.

why does this not get recommended more often on here. It is a much more usable focal length than the FA 50 1.4?

Yeah, I've only just started to use the thing but I see some definite creative opportunities with it.

I think the focal length is very usable, though mostly for people... it's not wide enough for landscapes or architecture and not long enough for traditional portrait work. It's really the ultimate pub lens, I guess.

It's the ultimate walk-around lens imo. If I had to choose only one lens to use, I'd probably take some of the 30/1.4. In cropped sensor it gets around the 50mm which is pretty much the (non-mathematical) focal lenght of human eye. Works for landscapes and portraits more than well enough if you know what you're doing.

Also, I've heard only good things about the Sigma primes. The 50/1.4 is amazing from what I've tested. And looking at the pics from the 30, taken at 1.4 or 1.7 and 1/30 or 1/45, it seems to be as good.

I seem to disagree with the majority here (not unusual for me to disagree) but the bokeh doesn't do anything for me, the circles are all eliptical and not round
