Macro Macro shot of water drops on CD

Hi Plankton, I used natural light inside my living room by a large window. The lens was a Tamron 90mm macro on a tripod. I set my camera up for a 2 second delay and used a cable release to keep vibration at a minimum.
The CD disc was simply moved until I saw the desired affect that I was looking for.
The water was sprayed on from about 2 feet away.
Good luck.
Tony.

Hi, I have tried in vain to find out the difference between the Pentax SMC DA 55-300mm f/4-5.8 ED zoom lens and the P-DA version.
Does anyone know what the P stands for?
Thanks Tony.

Hi Cupic, I guess I could have experimented with different apertures but since I was really only "muckin about" I wasn't seriously trying to get exceptional images.

However your question has made me think about getting set up to do a serious range of different speed/aperture images using the CD technique because I have the equipment and now the interest to go further.

Regards, Tony.

I was intrigued by another member's image of the same technique and was prompted to try it for myself. I was surprised how easy it was to do and also by the finished product which looks kinda cool to me and very different than anything surrealistic that I've attempted to date.

Hi JMR, I took the photo at dusk with my Canon G9 a week after I bought it used. I could have probably done better had I been more familiar with the camera.( I wish I had had my Pentax K20D with me at the time) I added more saturation to bring out the cloud colour which was washed out in the original image.

Regards, Tony.

Hi Kevin, nice job of reducing the noise. I don't remember if I used Noise Ninja or not but yours is an improvement. I cannot imagine how I missed the line on the left of the image(fishing line)...but I will remove it with PS thanks for pointing it out.

Regards, Tony.

I have always been fascinated by cloud formations but the chance to capture the better ones has always seemed to elude me. Here are few that I managed to get and although a couple have some noise I still like them.

Those flamingos were the first ones I had ever seen flying too. They were probably 500 yards away at the time and so small that I didn't expect to get much of them.
They were on the Island of Bonaire.
Cheers,Tony.

This is Tika my Bengal cat.
I was just about to take her photo when she yawned. Usually they have a different expression with the eyes screwed almost shut but this time she looked animated and happy enough to bust.
This photo always causes me to smile. I hope you do too.

Thanks JMR.
The first B/W is a bundle of canvas frozen solid on my local lake shore ...(minus 25 degrees that day and 50km / hr wind....nasty!)
The window pic was taken on the island of Bonaire and is part the old slave quarters.
The last photo was taken with the HDR technique which tends to increase every little detail but I like the result with this one.
Regards, Tony.

I find myself often drawn to capture various textures in my images. I really think they can make a subject more interesting.
I purposely increase the sharpening in order to emphasize this factor...Hope it works.

Rense that first shot could hardly be any better re the exposure and composition etc.. What a beautiful surreal and peaceful image you captured.

I have taken countless thousands of photographs and never had the urge to frame one for myself...But if I had taken your first image I would have it up on my wall for sure.
Well done mate.
Regards, Tony.

Hi Jim, actually the lens I had on the camera at the time was a 16-45mm pentax which I claimed also.
Remarkably enough even though the whole thing went a couple of feet under water I dried it out about an hour later with a blow dryer and then put it over a heat register for 3 days and presto! it works fine...I can clearly see dried water spots inside but cannot see any degradation in the photos from it...Go figure!
Regards, Tony.

These were shot in colour and just changed quickly into B/W using picasa.
I have yet to learn enough in PS to do it properly.
