I suppose it would be the same with Pentax K-1, as the full frame (as well as the lens turbo adapter) shows more edge areas where the optical vignetting (ie. "swirly bokeh") is more apparent. Same thing happens with the Helios.

I've noticed my Pentax-M 50mm f/1.4 has quite swirly bokeh, at least when used with Mitakon Lens Turbo II. Is this a feature of the lens or something that the adapter exaggerates? I don't mind - this lens is still (or because of it) one of my all time favourite Pentaxians.

Pentax-M 75-150mm f/4 @ wide open

This lens was quite a surprise to me, as the price was so ridiculously low (30 euros).
Awesome lens and nice focal range (used with Lens Turbo II)!

Recently got my first Pentax zoom - the Pentax-M 35-70mm f/2.8-3.5. What a lens! Great for outdoors. :D
Shame it has pretty lousy close focus range, but otherwise it's pretty stellar piece of glass.

Thanks! I really do love these Pentax lenses. The Fujinon lenses are stellar (I've got XF 23mm f/1.4, 35mm f/2 and 56mm f/1.2), but I find they are very clinical at some times. Like most modern lenses, they are just "too perfect". There's just something special in the images taken with these lovely old vintage lenses, not to mention their glass & steel construction. And I really enjoy using manual lenses (now about to try manual Pentax zooms as well) as they make you think more about the image and where to place the focal plane. ;)

I think whatever my camera body will be in the future years, these Pentax lenses will stay with me and they will influence in my decisions when buying new cameras (it has to support manual focusing).

Wouldn't like to re-enact the scene from The Revenant with a real bear. So I like to keep my distance, even in a Zoo. I already have an Oscar (my son's name is Oskari). :D

Thanks! He's our 13 years old cat "Amadeus". He and his companion "Bella" are my usual test subjects whenever I get some new camera gear. :D

Thanks! Sure is best camera I've ever had before. Loving it! Also the Fujinon lenses are stellar.

Kiitos! Ja terkut systerilleni, asuu myös Nurmijärvellä. (Some finnish talk.)

I was looking for a cheap (don't need it often) manual zoom that would work well with my Lens Turbo adapter. Interesting to see how it'll work.

Edit: Whoops. Also bought the Pentax-M 35-70mm f/2.8-3.5 from eBay. It had so good reviews and isn't as bulky as the A 35-105. And the (almost) full-frame f/2.8 (thanks to Lens Turbo-adapter) should be fun for a zoom.

Will post pictures taken with all these new lenses on their relevant (A and M) club threads. :-)

Uh-oh. This thing is getting out of hand... Just ordered Pentax-M 28mm f/2.8 (Ver.II) and also ordered Pentax-A 70-210mm f/4 so I can compare it to the M 80-200mm and keep the one I like more.

I just asked my father about his camera. He still has his Pentax ME somewhere stored, which has a little bit of light leak from the back cover. But should be usable. I was thinking of buying some film and trying it out, just for fun. His lenses were also pretty worn out as they were used for 20 years, but luckily he had used filters on them all the time so the glass is still in perfect condition. Also nothing wrong with the mechanics, just a bit flimsy aperture rings since they are so worn out.

PS. Just ordered the Pentax-M 80-200mm f/4 from eBay to cover my telephoto needs. At the moment I don't have anything longer than the Pentax-M 120mm f/2.8. Then I'll have five Pentaxes (and only three Fujinons). ;)

My entry to this club.

I really, really love the M lenses. The whole love affair began when I got the 35mm f/2 and 85mm f/2 from my father. He had photographed my childhood with these two gems and now I can do the same for my kids. Got so swept away that I also got the 50mm f/1.4 and 120mm f/2.8 to complement them.

Pentax-M 50mm f/1.4

Pentax-M 85mm f/2

Pentax-M 120mm f/2.8

Thanks!

My preferred camera is the Fujifilm X-T1 and I see no need to change that any time soon. It's a camera that I feel is more like the spiritual successor to the classic Japanese SLR's (Like old Pentaxes) and has the best controls a camera can have as well as outstanding IQ. And it's like it's meant to be used with these classic manual focus lenses. I used to have Nikon's before, but those big plasticky black blobs don't interest me anymore. Just a personal feeling.

The adapter that I use is the Mitakon/Zhongyi Lens Turbo II (a speedbooster / focal length reducer) that adapts EOS lenses to Fuji X mount. Since they don't have the Mk. II version of the Pentax K mount yet, I have to use the PK to EOS adapters in between. A bit weird combo yeah - but works really great! And no adverse IQ reductions that I would care about.

It's awesome beeing able to photograph my own kids with the same lenses my own father used to capture my own childhood. ;)

Cheers,
Toni

Just dropping by - since I just registered here.

First I have to confess that I don't own any Pentax cameras, but I really love the Pentax-M lenses that I use with my Fujifilm X-T1. My father owned a Pentax ME film SLR (which I'm also planning to use). This whole Pentax-affair began when I got his 30 years old Pentax-M lenses (35mm f/2 and 85mm f/2) and fell in love with them, as they perform really well on digital, especially with the lens turbo adapter that allows them to gain (almost) the full 35mm field of view and depth of field. Since then I've added the 50mm f/1.4 and 120mm f/2.8 to my collection. Both really awesome lenses.

Cheers,
Toni Palmén (aka Lupus)
