Painted Lady. This is a massive crop from about 5m away! IMGP2048-crop by h4yn0nnym0u5e, on Flickr
The SOOC JPEG looks like this: I used a mini tripod, IR remote release and LV focussing to get the best possible result IMGP2048 by h4yn0nnym0u5e, on Flickr
(these images previously xposted)
This is part of a 14-image series of butterfly photos taken between 2018-07-06 and 2018-08-02. All were with the K-1 and DA*300; 9 of them were taken within the space of an hour, in an area about 240x80m, and are of 8 different species, with a couple more species being taken in the same area during the next few weeks. The rest were at various times and places in Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Surrey.
Rather than spam a single thread with all 14 images, I thought it would be fun to post them in different threads and provide a link from one to the next. Follow the links to threads you might otherwise never have looked at! Onwards! |

Let's get the August post count up! Here's one from 1991 on Kodachrome 64, probably using the MX and the lovely M85 f/2. Scanned this year and given a bit of a tweak in RawTherapee, I'm not sure if the cool colour is because it was a winter's day or the emulsion has faded over the years. Probably a bit of both: Flickr

"Look Mummy! There's an aeroplane up in the sky!"

or maybe Mustang Sally (except she's actually "Ferocious Frankie"...)

Good point. According to an external observer you'd appear to be suffering from reciprocity failure...
I think we've gone a tiny bit OT here, but least Dave got his question answered before the wheels came off. And metals are formed in stars, so there is a tenuous connection.
Cheers

Thanks for your support! I do try to be as open as possible about these things, especially in such a great community as PF.

Set of 5 taken on a Sunday afternoon wander with vintage Pentax glass only; I'll post them separately so you can "like" just the ones you want to! Totally failed to record the aperture on any of them, sorry...

Can do ladybirds as well as cats! Taken with the K3-II set to "natural" but then changed to "bright" 'cos I think it looks better and closer to the original. May try this again this weekend, using Pixel Shift Resolution, if I can find more leaves. The ladybird may have flown off by now though - anyone got a slug?

I'm not. I get the impression that it's interns, not engineers, who've written it. Moreover, ones who have a lot of other stuff to do, no support from UI/UX specialists, and certainly no opportunity to do beta-testing with real users. Bugs do happen, but design flaws like the ones in Image Sync require a significant lack of interest or resource on the part of Ricoh.
