If I didn't already have a K3II and a K3....This is SUCH a sweet deal! When I think what I paid for the camera, that lens, and the battery pack...sigh.

Actually, Rupert, these branches are a bit of an upgrade. Less of the screw showing. Anyway, good on all of ya, I really enjoy this thread.

If they don't like looking, nothing forces it on them. On the other side of the ledger, some of us get a lot of enjoyment from these pictures.
Well, thanks to all who posted here. I got a great kick from everyone's squirrels. Rupert, hope to see you again, and thanks for all the tips on the 50-500.

I can't properly express the enjoyment I get from following this thread. What is it about these goofy squirrels?

Hmmmm....all I need to do is find a trash can in Texas in an area that has a lot of squirrels....(fat, happy squirrels).
Might be worth a shot! How big could Texas be?

Well. After careful scrutiny, I have decided you are correct. There IS a blemish. She's dead to me now....

I bought one from this forum moments before you first put this up. Yours is selling for less. Odd that no one purchased. There is a forum listing here with samples that just blew me away, and I am loving the lens. Best of luck to you.

I like what I see and hear about the KP, but I'll wait for the "next great thing" that has 2 SD slots.

For me it's not the brand. It's the model. K-3s....I'm just not right when it comes to K-3's........

I have the istDL. I left it for many weeks with the batteries (4 AAs) in the compartment. It would not turn on, I tried cleaning the contacts, but in the end what worked was gently lifting them up a bit, as over time the batteries had flattened them, so that they no longer fully contacted the ends of the batteries.
This ONLY works for the contacts for a camera with AA or AAA batteries.

At first, I bought Pentax because I needed a camera for my youngest brothers wedding. Pentax was the best deal.I broke the autofocus that night on a drunken beach walk after the reception. When years later I decided to give photography another try, well...I had two lenses from the last one, so....Pentax it was. I put the old lenses on the new camera...decided I needed some new ones...and it's all been one vicious circle from that day to this...got addicted to K-3s, wanted to take pics of birds, longer glass, faster glass, and now wider glass...along with primes, super zooms, yada, yada, yada. The whole sordid story. And now I'm old and folks keep telling me I should be using this camera or that camera, nag, nag, nag....which pretty much assures I'll die shooting Pentax. It just happened to me....

Nice shot. For much of the summer Scrub Jays make up the majority of the birds I see at my feeders, so I have a lot of pics of them. If you give them unsalted peanuts on a regular basis, they will begin to nag and complain if you forget...they fly around me in the yard, land and hop a few feet before me, and raise a ruckus. Fun bunch....

Well, as long as there is no lasting damage, I don't mind if they indulge in a bit o' the leaf. I was young once, my own self.

Does anyone know what squirrels find so appealing about Japanese Maples? This tree sometimes has three or four nibbling at it, yet seems pretty bare....
