Quick question (about OLPF / zoom vs primes).

1) Oly E10-3 (without OLPF) + panasonic 12-60/3.5-5.6 (really sharp lens)

2) Panasonic GX7 (with OLPF) + panasonic 20/1.7

Which one would have better IQ /*before*/ geometry and other corrections? Only RAW shooting.

Can anyone confirm this? Is there ND filter rather than aperture blades mechanic?

PS i`ve seen similar "fake" aperture in BENQ GH600.. only "wide open" and "max.close" values in OSD (at wide end was 3.1 vs 6.9 if I remember correct)

You have noticeble back focus issue. Try to correct it with long focus range bright lens, 50mm/F2 is enought for that.
How to correct BF? Search on forum or google it, on your camera it`s simple task.

Does this conversion additionally needs any mechanical works (drilling, cutting, etc.) and/or changing some parts inside (gears, etc.) ??

I have a problem with this lens
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/122-lens-clubs/196639-da35-f2-4-plastic-f...ml#post3821092
Shot was taken on my first DA35.
Got second copy of DA35 and have heavy test on this lens recently.
What can I say?... Lots of purple fringing appears on contrast object which are SLIGHTLY out of focus. After series of direct comparison shots, taken with different AF microajustment I can say - purple fringing depends of this and can be minimized by precisely tuning AF.
There is another minor problem - AF on close objects (sub1meter - AF test chart, flowers, etc.) must be set to +120, BUT for distant objects (hyperfocal to infinity) it must be set to +190.
Bying this lens was planned by me as walk around lens, so I keep AF adj. +190 - it save average to good close shooting with some front focusing. Taken @2.8

DA 35 F2.4 ---- vs ---- SMC-F 35-70 F3.5-4.5

For macro shooting I have Tamron 70-300. It takes 1:2 macro from 0.95 meter, unbeatable for shooting small livings, especially with teleconverter. I think it`s uncomparable with 35-70 macro capability.
30-70 are pretty rare lens, there is ONE lot locally :( in not very good condition - slightly (0.5-1 mm) wobbling frontal tube

Yes, I want to compare cheap fix with cheap zoom. Why not?
How could it be?
SMC Pentax-DA 35mm F2.4 AL Reviews - DA Prime Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database
SMC Pentax-F 35-70mm F3.5-4.5 Reviews - F Zoom Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database
Average User Rating 9.20 vs 8.78
I know, this user rating is mostly relating on to the price, both lens are cheap, so look at this:
Sharpness 9.2 vs 9.0
Aberrations 8.6 vs 8.4
Almost identical by the rating. I have opportunity to shoot DA 35 a little. I don`t own 35-70 yet.
Does 35-70 deserve the attention?
Help me to take a decision - which one I should bye first and, may be the only one of these?

PS the pics from there is very convincing:
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/122-lens-clubs/258498-smc-pentax-f-35-70-...lt-club-2.html
Is there any drawbacks ?

F2.4
You see, 40-50 years old takumar 24/3.5 (wider!!) and chinon 35/2.8 without any APO correction, aspheric, ED etc. elements control chromatic abberation much better than DA 35/2.4. So, I think that there is some problem with my copy of this lens.
This was taken @ F3.2

So... retractable 18-50 F4-5.6 is awful. The worst short kit lens in pentax lineup.
How about sigma 17-70 F2.8-4.5 compared to DA-L WR 18-55 F3.5-5.6 (with quick shift- afaik better kit lens in "18-55" family) ?

Not exactly. Yes, DOF depends on focal lenght and aperture. BUT! DOF differs with optical scheme.

K10D, K100D
Buying full frame body is not planned in next 2-3 year
There is rumors that short crop kit (18-55) is better for contrast, microcontrast, corner details etc.
Sadly, there is not much sample photos from 18-35 for direct comparison. I notice, that 18-35 have bigger DOF than 18-55 - it may helps with architectural photo shooting
18-35 is twice expensive than 18-55
18-35 have very little to NO chromatic abberation
18-55 is cheap plastik piece with 10-20k shoots lifespan
18-55 have better geometry @18 mm

any thoughts ?

I`m at interest of K10, K100 maximum number shutter release actuations before dead.
Recently have seen K10D with 95k, works good for now.
My own K100D run for 40k, still works fine.
What is your BIGGEST number?

PS yes, I know about official 100k. It`s no info for me, real number from real people - THIS is info.

I think it very simple: if the lens have an additional mount for tripod - use it!
Remember that the bayonet is fixed to the body with just a few tiny screws

K100D does not shoot periodically

I`ve disassemble it a bit =)
Here is some info
Disassembling procedure is written in service manuals, google it. There is no need to solder/desolder something for "refresh" shutter button, just 000-size screwdriver maked of good steel. Tweezers helps a bit, but it`s no need for success. Whole procedure takes about 1 hour, need good lighted desk, piece of paper with double sided sticks to stick screws.
After removing plastic covers i`ve inspected camera`s inner space for water/dirt marks. Nothing. Good news.
Dismantle shutter button shiny cover shows A LOT of flux UNDER membrane, with some sorf of oxidizing/darkening on contacts group. Inner surface of membrane is also covered of some lacquer lay of dirty yellow color.
Wash all of them with isopropanol seems to fix and refresh button - works fine for now.
I remind that it 38.000 mileage 8 year old DSLR.

PS perhaps it`s goor idea to lube contacts/membrane with silicone. Will post info after years =)

K100D does not shoot periodically

I think that it`s a shutter button problem, may be rust or dirt between membranes.
While half-pressing this button focusing is ok - fast, with confirmation sound and red dot, without hunting. Exponometry also works well.
I will try to disassemble body to clean/resolder shutter button.
Will post results later.
Btw, 38k - it`s near 1/3 of guaranteed mileage of shutter pops. Do you think that i will change mysterious magic CCD picture for useless CMOS megapixels/live view/movie recordings? NO !

Press "shoot".. does nothing. Press "shoot".. does nothing (repeat 2..15 times) then - wow! started to work as nothing happens.
- Retract the flash
- "manual" flash mode
- option "allow shoot before flash charges"
- fresh fully charged set of NiMh-acc
- disabling shake reduction
- cleaning lens contacts (btw, the same problem even with old manual M42 lens)
does not resolve the problem.

FW 1.02
Cam`s mileage 38k, very good condition.

RCR-V3 give you 4,2V with no load and 3.2-3.7V with slightly to normal load (i.e. 1-1,5 Amp).
So go for pair of RCR-V3.
