Hello
A quick update on the faulty K3II - Pentax and/or the importer/retailer finally agreed on a full refund!
I decided to stick with Pentax and bought the K1 body.
The first impressions are that the quality of manufacture is second to none and the new features are excellent.
My confidence has returned!
Just updated the firmware to v1.10 - although not using Lightroom, there may be other beneficial updates!
Thanks for all the welcome notes and comments.

Hello Terry
Thanks for the interest, the problem is definitely the mirror with a 'machine gun' speed falpping up and down. This time I have a close-up video showing the rattle at both switch-on and off.
I am in the process of returning it once again to the seller who will deal with the importer.
Cheers

Hello
Interested in photography since the 1950's, macro has always been a big interest.
Moved to Pentax when the K7 was released - great camera with no faults and well built.
Decided last year to upgrade body to K3II and ran slap bang into the 'mirror flapping' issue.
Right from the very first switch-on, there was a minor rattle - thought to be shutter at first but no further sign for some time and the camera provided pleasing results.
Then it became worse!
Eventually the camera 'locked up' with no button working - only a battery removal, camera re-set managed to get it going again but it kept happening.
The body has been back to the Pentax importer 3 times. The second time it was returned with a new fault - it would not switch off (as reported by others).
After the last so-called 'fix' it has worked well for a few months but rapid mirror flapping has started again.
I am waiting now for the importer/seller to respond.
Camera serial number is 6184622.
This post is purely for information and perhaps I should also post it on a specific fault forum.
Cheers
