Thanks for this. Good to know there's a new version since they don't notify about updated versions. It's completely free. I did make the requested donation because I also use Faststone as my import / export hub and find it very useful.

The 15mm Limited controls my mind - club

Also possible. This is all new, so I can't just check a nearby fixture to confirm - I'd have to go back there and take a look. My bike, the DA15 and I are definitely up for the adventure. The 55-300 PLM can come along to take better shots inside the fixture in daylight.

I think that likely explains it. The fixtures are new and the light sources in them might be configured that way. I'd have to go in daylight and look up to see if they are.

This is a severe crop of a picture from another thread showing not only the street lights but also traffic lights and a security spotlight - all starbursting but I think I see a difference with the street lights.

Finding the right settings for wildlife

This is a good idea.

Years ago, when I first had the K50, I practiced just taking a few random pictures typical of the sort of thing I want to shoot using auto everything. I reviewed the results and the exif (of what the camera "thought" I wanted) and proceeded to learn how to tell it what my subject was, how I wanted the light metered, the iso top out etc using the more advanced settings, aperture, iso, shutter speed trade-offs or even a tripod to get the results I was going for.

Free immediate feedback, and exif to tell you what you might have messed up are powerful gifts of digital photography and you can learn a lot quickly with just a little time and effort.

How to change the time display between 12 and 24 hrs?

Not directly helpful but you absolutely can do that with the K70. It's in the wrench menu - Date format - and at the end of the date is 12h or 24 h time. HTH

What you need to adjust is the white balance. Use the snow itself as your reference point when setting it in camera. Most processing software has a white balance correction option. Click on the little eye dropper, then click on the part of the picture that should be white.

You can also warm the tone of the picture with colour temperature correction - was the light this blue when you shot this?

Edit: Congratulations on seeing this many moose together and getting pictures at all.

WR gear is only WR when assembled. Changing lenses introduces the risk of dust and debris getting to the sensor, and changing lenses can be tricky in the field. Fiddling with gear will annoy anybody with you who isn't also an ILC photographer.

My out and about kit is the smc DA 15 and the 55-300 PLM. Toronto can be annoyingly windy and I've had issues with dust infiltration when changing lenses as well as struggling with lens changes in difficult terrain. I also have a Panasonic travel zoom (zs100). Smaller, much more portable, all in one - but the tiny buttons are fiddly and I've had some potentially great shots be mediocre that I know I could have nailed with the Pentax gear. Trade-offs, I guess. I've learned that less gear can be the right choice. The 18-135 WR with the K3iii perhaps with a light tripod seems like the right balance of capability and practicality.

Pixel Shifted Images

I tried a few pixel shift images at the Toronto Port lands last week. I saw the sunset from a well known viewing pier which was busy with groups of people enjoying the evening and each other - so mostly not steady enough for pixel shift even with the tripod. This one came out okay though.

I got the 15mm years ago because I was snarling "Be wider damn it!" at my 18-135. The 15mm on apsc just coincides with what my brain wants to see in the shot.

I got a SMC DA 21 last fall and really meant to give it a good try out but I've been defaulting to the SMC DA 15 out of habit. Maybe I'll take the 21mm out this afternoon and see what I get.

Photo Software recommended?

This is a good idea.

A lot of these programs are resource hungry. They require current or very recent version operating systems, plenty of RAM and highly recommend a separate graphics card of decent quality, Intel i5 or i7 or the equivalent.

It's probably a good idea to assess what your computer would be capable of running - and whether you'd be willing to upgrade components or the entire machine if necessary (or possible). Then choose from the software that's a good fit for your computer.

K-70 TAv mode doesn't seem to be working correctly

I was thinking along those lines. In TAV, you can still define the range within which the iso floats. You just can't use a single iso. First thing I'd check that I hadn't somehow accidentally (or on purpose but forgot :o) changed the lowest permitted iso.

I get it. Coming back after an absence, I've also struggled with the intricacies of posting here. The beginner help is a bit out of date and takes a bit of searching.

My workflow, as of now anyway...

To post a picture you've never posted here:
Create a folder on your desktop home screen for jpegs you want to share. When you have such a picture, export a downsized copy to this folder. I use not more than 800px wide. This makes it possible to view without scrolling and is a courtesy to those with slow internet / limited bandwidth or data. To create a post - I use Go Advanced (button is below Quick Reply). Type some text in the reply box. Click the black Manage Attachments box below the message box - which gives you a dialogue to upload an image from your computer. Navigate to the jpeg folder on your desk top home screen and choose one image. Upload that, close the upload an image dialogue box - then click Preview Post (below the message box next to Submit Reply). This should load a preview with the image displayed. Then scroll down to the active message box, add more pictures and text or just submit.

To re-post (cross post) an image you've previously posted on this forum:
Look to the right of the message text field. Below the yellow smilies, you'll see Insert Album Photos in red. Click that. It will take you your photos here. At the top there's a drop down in which you'll find Albums, Galleries and Attachments. Attachments should get you any image you've previously posted here, and you can select them to use again from there.

My great hope was to see an egret. One magical morning on the islands two of them showed up and danced in the air just for me. Not the best egret shots on this forum, but one of the best memories of my life.

The complete ballet transcribed for solo piano by and performed by Stewart Goodyear. It can only be described as amazing (and yes, I know the word is overused but in this case it applies).
