A new alternative to the Q with 5.6x crop factor and 4k video

I’ve been looking at this too, but I’ll probably wait to see how it turns out before investing at all in the Kickstarter. I mostly use the original Q to adapt D and C mount lenses, so the usability of this for me would depend on if it’s successful enough for people to make adapters—and whether the flange distance of the lens mount even works for D mount.

Otherwise, it’s the same size sensor as the original Q with the same megapixels, so not much new there, though I would hope the tech has improved since then. It also seems to be made of plastic unfortunately, and I liked the prototype classic black and chrome design they shared in a picture more than the white and blue options. 😂

The viewfinder isn’t ready yet either so I’d want to see how that is, too. I agree that the lack of an EVF is the only thing I don’t like about the Q, so that could be very cool on this Yashica. But the Q also has IBIS and focus peaking, so…. Not clear yet if this is a good “spiritual successor,” so to speak.

If you haven't seen this, you might find it interesting: Pentax Vintage Takumar Primes Lens Test It's part of a larger set of reports: Early Asahi Pentax Cameras and Takumar lenses: Main Page It seems as though as time passes some web pages disappear, get lost or deleted. If this kind of information interests you, I'd recommend copying it to a hard drive ("documents").

I'm convinced that I could be happy with just this one lens.

Freezing the flight of little birds with the SMC-K 200 f2,5

As said, here are some tries with the DA*300 and K1 with the same way of doing, equivalent to K200 f2,5 on APSC in terms of focal and D.O.F.
- Exposure time was from 1/3200 to 1/5000
- Pre-focusing seems to be harder (The K200 f2,5 is a pleasure to focus and obviously beats DA*300 for MF)
- Note : The K1 was set in 1:1 crop mode (same sensor height used) - I didn't remark that fact while shooting :hmm::hmm:

Having some time to spend, and seeing birds going from a tree branch to land at a finding station in the garden, I decided to try catching these landings.

I needed to be close enough to the bird, but the field of view has to be wide enough to catch the entire bird evolution to be sure it will be in th frame. (Bird trajectory is difficult to predict)

Some view tests told me that my K200 f2,5 (300mm on APS-C) would be ok for the shooting distance (10 feets).
The 2,5 aperture permits to shoot with minimal exposure time / not so high ISO. The manual focusing is perfect to pre-focus the target area.

The equipment: K30 + K200 f2,5 mounted on tripod with wired remote trigger. Pictures are taken through a double bend house window.

The way of doing:
K30 in AV mode, so the pictures are taken wide open with tis K lens (f2,5) - ISO 1600 -> exposure times were all between 1/5000 and 1/6000.
Focusing by advance on the feeding station area....waiting while watching directly the scene (not in the viewfinder)....depress remote control at the moment the bird leaves the branch to land at the station. (little birds are very fast and spend few tenths of second to go from the branch to the station).

I didn't use the continus shooting of the K30 thinking it would waste dozens of pictures and make less fun to do.:):)

As bokeh I like the one of the Schneider-Kreuznach Makro-Tele-Xenar 75mm F2.8 on the Q-S1 especialy at F4; for what I read but I don't have the lens (because of its cost) the Tokina 90mm F2.5 macro 1:2 that is present also as Vivitar 90mm F2.5 macro 1:2 has a great bokeh.

A photo with the Schneider-Kreuznach at F4

I've been testing the latest prototype of my film holder product by digitising a roll of film I shot in September last year. The event was the Classic Car Day at Beamish Museum, organised by The North of England Classic & Pre-War Automobiles Club. Beamish is just a few miles from my home :)

All photos in this thread were taken with the Olympus Trip 35 on Kodak ColorPlus 200. The film was lab developed, and digitised using a Pentax K-3 + SMC D FA100 2.8 Macro WR (ISO 100, f/8) with my own prototype film holder and Raleno video light. Negative conversion using Lightroom 6 + Negative Lab Pro. Most images were cropped for levelling and/or composition.

Any pixelation is due to compression, in order to keep file sizes below 300k (for those on slower connections)...

M37 Takumar 58mm/f2.4. Wide open f2.4 in ambient indoor light (60W soft white LED), ISO 3200, shutter speed 240. Fuji X-T1, classic chrome. This is a test immediately after getting the lens, but OMG!!!! I can't wait to take proper pictures with it, on film, mounted on the Asahiflex, after overhaul!

Thanks. They're also easy to photograph, as they will tolerate your presence.
