I often do panorama hand-held, I just take one photo, turn a bit, stop, take the next, etc. I don't move continuously.
Generally I also press the camera against my face to help stabilize it, as well as using the other techniques mentioned above (holding breath, etc.).
I also take more than one photo of each frame in succession if there is a long shutter speed needed. The SR is something of a statistical improvement, and the more photos you take of each panorama frame, the more likely you are to get at least one of them blur-free. Even with non-SR shutter speeds, I take a couple of each frame.
(Similarly if I am taking regular single-frame images in a very dim environment, I take several of them, if possibly, with the idea that at least one of them welcome out unblurred.) ---------- Post added 03-15-24 at 08:55 PM ----------
How are you doing that effectively around the image plane without using a tripod? In theory, it should be rotating around the center of the image plane, not the center of the viewfinder, though in practice just turning your body should be good enough, unless you are quite particular about doing it absolutely correctly.

The K-3 II has a flicker reduction setting under the tools menu, but I haven't checked the manual to see if that is only for video. Check the K-3 III manual and see if it has anything similar.
Edit: that's for monitor flicker according to the manual.

More like a 50 year design, since it's basically the M40 which came out in 1976.

You could build a dock from part of a camera body to have a mount that would dock with the lens. But is there any advantage to this? What communication between the dock and lens would you want, or is even possible with Pentax lenses?
One hack that has been done, not exactly like what you are talking about, is an adapter that allows you to mount Pentax lenses on Sony cameras (the Monster Adapter), and the camera autofocus with them.

For color film, I like Portra 160 (there is also a Portra 400), it gives what I think of as rich colors (as opposed to saturated). I also like Kodak E100 slide film. Cinestill 400D is also nice, but maybe harder to get.
For cheaper color film there is Kodak ProImage 100 and ColorPlus. Those are both older emulsions, the ProImage is a pretty neutral/natural look and ColorPlus is a bit yellowy, like older films of that same vintage.
Easier to get in a store near you might be Gold 200 and Ultra 400.

There are two Kodak-branded cameras that yield 72 images per rolls and a few Lomography cameras, probably a couple more. Not sure if any of those are warranteed, but I am not sure if the zone focus, manual winding Pentax will be either.

In the case of the FA 31, if you read the posted review on this site of the new HD-coated Limiteds, it seems that the HD 31 has decreased flare, which was the most significant improvement in the three updated lenses.

There is also the newer Kodak H38, which has a two-element lens with one glass element.

The FA Limiteds are generally a pretty wide aperture, but not wide enough that it makes the lens too heavy. ---------- Post added 03-05-24 at 09:27 PM ----------
I don't know what lenses you have, but it might be nice, to keep Pentax in business, to buy *something* new every so often. Like if they come out with a new lens that you like, or maybe a new camera. It's not like they come out with a new camera every year.
I have not bought so many new Pentax lenses, I guess maybe 4 in the digital era? But even buying one lens is a reasonable benefit for them.

Though I am interested in their film camera project, the description of the first film camera is a bit underwhelming for me ---------- Post added 03-05-24 at 10:27 AM ----------
You mean a film version of it? Or a digital version?
Hard to say if the tech for it is still in place, the film version at least.

I guess I lucked out! I got a K-5 in Nov. 2010, and had none of the problems described here, I don't recall having heard of them before. I've taken 150,000 photos on it and didn't encounter any significant focus issues, and I took a lot of photos in performance lighting situations. The only shortcoming is that the shutter button is soft in terms of resistance when you press it, not sure if it became that way or started out that way. My K-5 II is not like that, though I only used it half as much as the K-5.

When I used the K20D and *ist DS regularly, when I printed photos, the oranges were way too strong, so I had to tone them down. Possibly a printer driver issue, but I figured it was due to the cameras and how they rendered orange.

I was using a 4K 27" monitor, but I switched when someone gave me a 2560 x 1600 monitor that was 30". But I still ahve the 4K monitor and am considering hooking them both up at once, though my computer is somewhat older.

And I can't believe it was featured in the sponsored article! Maybe they have had it for years and just can get rid of it due to the fungus.

Can you say more, or show the unique colors of the K20D/K-7? I have not heard of that for those camera, only the CCD cameras, like the K10D and earlier.

The 14 bit raws would give you more flexibility with adjusting the photos. Presumably more shadow recovery with those extra 2 bits.

I saw the older sensors blow out the color *faster* -- like the orange was too strong compared to the other colors, so it looked unnatural.

There are some advantages to the old technology in a space flight. The Space Shuttle had very old computers with core memory, but upgrading them would have meant they needed to provide sufficient shielding against cosmic rays flipping a microprocessor bit. The core memory already had that resistance built-in.

The lens will work on any manual focus Pentax body if the camera has, and you set it to, a shutter-priority or program mode. And it will also autofocus on any Pentax film autofocus body except the ME-F. The main limitation here is that you can't set the aperture manually with the camera if it doesn't have a dial to set the aperture, since there is no manual aperture ring. However, if the film camera has an aperture dial, you can set it -- but I believe the only cameras with an aperture dial are the Z/PZ series and the *ist, and some of the MZ/ZX models.
The DA 35 in theory has some vignetting on a full-frame camera, but it is generally considered usable on full-frame. You can look up on the site here, there is information and tests about which DA lenses work well on FA cameras.
In general, all the screw-drive autofocus lenses will work on the film autofocus cameras. The power zoom isn't an issue, you don't have to use that function.

I personally have had SDM failure issues on that 16-20 lens, but if you have been using it a lot with no problems, it should be OK. I would bring a small prime with me just in case, if you were only going to bring the one lens initially.
