Alright. I shall do that tomorrow. I'll probably record a short video of the sound as well.

Okay, that's very helpful. Thank you :) if it is binding, anyway to fix it my self? I bought it from B&H, could the Pentax warranty maybe cover it?

Pentax K3 grinding noise?

Hi guys!
So, sadly while I was at school today my "friend" accidently knocked my K3 off of the table and onto the ground. It didn't fall very far, probably less than 3.5feet but I was still pretty mad as I'm only 17, so money is kind of hard to come by. Anyways it looks fine, but now for some reason I'm hearing a grinding noise when ever I take a picture and I can feel the sensor move when ever I tilt the camera a lot more than usual (I think)
Am I just being paranoid and noticing things that were already there?
Thanks in advance
-Stuart

Best budget wide angle lens?

Well, I think I'm now leaning more towards a Samyang or Rokinon because of the manual apertures. I'll keep doing research :)
Out of curiosity, how much would I be able to get for my 16-45 if I were to post it on here? Or would I have better luck on ebay?

APS :) Shooting on the K-3. I more so just like the convenience of a zoom but I'm getting to the point where I don't exactly need one as I have so many vintage primes.

The Pentax is a bit out of my budget coming in at $750 CAD. Is it REALLY worth the price?

Again, Samyang 14mm looks ideal as it comes in under my budget ($431 CAD) and it has a manual aperture ring meaning I can use it on my film cameras which I use quite often.

The Tamron comes in at just under $700. Same as the 15mm, is it really worth it?
I'm 17 so it is kind of a big purchase for me

---------- Post added 11-17-16 at 04:33 PM ----------

I know it's supposed to be distorted :P I just meant it was a lot more noticeable than the other lenses.

---------- Post added 11-17-16 at 04:33 PM ----------

Thanks :) I'll take a look at that thread

---------- Post added 11-17-16 at 04:34 PM ----------

I feel like I've grown out of it though, and I believe the lens wobble would most likely form in the new lens as well.

Damn that's really tempting. Only problem I have with it is the fact that it does have a bit of distortion. I've never tried to correct it before.

There's nothing really wrong with it tbh. It just developed a horrible barrel wobble (which from what I hear, they tend to do) so I'd like to get rid of it. The 12-24 looks amazing but sadly it's a bit out of my price range being close to 1k CAD

---------- Post added 11-17-16 at 03:00 PM ----------

I've looked at the sigma 16 quite a bit. I like it, and it has a manual aperture ring so I can use it on my film cameras! The only problem is I'd like the option to get just a little bit wider.

---------- Post added 11-17-16 at 03:06 PM ----------

The fisheye is just a little outside my budget sadly. But that's the kind of optic range I'd like.

---------- Post added 11-17-16 at 03:08 PM ----------

Has anyone tried the Samyang 14mm out of curiosity?

Hi!
I'm looking to sell my 16-45 pentax lens and upgrade to another.
I use my old 55mm 1.7 for portraits, and I also have a 28mm (i think) 2.8 so this would mainly be for landscapes and random street photos.
I'm looking at the sigma 10-20mm or similar.
hopping to find one between 500-600 CAD
Any thoughts?
thanks in advance

Well, I personally would get the pentax 16-85 or the Sigma 18-250 for the plane, and try to find a nice SMC 50mm 1.7 for portraits.

Both of the ones I've owned were like this. Sent the first back to get it replaced, and this one developed the same issue.

Alright thanks for the info :) Was a bit worried. Should I state this in the ad?

16-45 barrel wobble?

Hi guys! Not sure if this is the correct place to post this or not.
I bought a 16-45 lens in April, and lately it has gotten quite a bit of barrel wobble (whether it's fully extended or not). I'm hopefully looking to sell it and move onto another lens. Would this effect the price at all? Anyway I can fix this? As far as I can tell it has not effected the image quality.
Not looking to get a lot for it. Probably around $200 CAD.
Thanks in advance!

Well, at least I'll have a camera for the summer now! :D Once I get a summer job and a bit of extra cash, I'll probably still buy the K-3 ii as I've been wanting an upgrade for awhile. Or maybe I should save up for the K-1... That camera looks good enough to last a life time.

That's correct :) It flips up, then the only way to get it back down is to reset the camera by removing the battery.

I'll try a reset now, but I don't have much hope for it

Yes, liveview. Sorry.

I think I'll just start looking for a new camera. Really want the K-3

Hey guys :)
I went to turn on my Pentax KS-1 this morning, only to find out it won't take any pictures. The LCD screen works fine. I can go into the menus etc, but when I try to take a picture nothing happens. AF doesn't come on either. So I tried to make it look through the screen, and it's completely black. The sensor opens just fine. Once I make it look through the screen, I can't get it to go back and it becomes unresponsive. The only way to turn it off is it take out the battery.
Back in April it rolled down a waterfall about 50 feet. I put it in rice for a week and it seemed as if everything was okay. I've been using it ever since.

Any suggestions on what might be wrong? How much are sensor replacements?
Thanks in advance

Well, I think I'm going to go for the 16-45 then. It's a lot cheaper than any of the other lenses I've been looking at. Is the IQ any better than the 18-55?

What about the 16-45? There's one on sale for about $125 USD so I was thinking about getting it.
In all honesty as long as it's better than my kit lens I'll be okay lol

The thing is that I kind of want both xD
I'm going to Victoria BC on wed, so I'd mostly be shooting in the forests, ocean, and city. I'm also going to be going to a few trestle, so legs hanging over the edge pics obviously going to be taken lol.
With this information, which would you prefer? This is really going to be my first "new" lens so that's why I'm having a really hard time deciding. Or do you have any other lens recommendations that are in my price range?

I think I'm more leaning towards the pentax now. I think I could get some cool shots with it, and I still have my kit lens + 50mm 1.7, and a 55 F2 for walkabouts.
Maybe I should look at more of a wide angle zoom lens. So like 16-35 for example. Any recommendations?

Thanks for all of your replies!
I don't have a problem defshing images either, as I quite enjoy the editing part of photography as well.
At what focal length does the pentax stops being a fish eye? As long as it's okay from like 15-17 it'll be fine. That's all I want really. I just thought of the fish eye effect as an added bonus. Right now all I really have for a zoom lens is the 18-55mm kit (I tend to shoot at 18 more).
Is there anything like the 16-85mm but not as expensive?

Hey guys! Just joined today, so sorry if this is in the wrong section.
Anyways, I need to pick a lens today if I want it to arrive before I go.
I've been stressing like mad trying to pick a decent wide angle lens.
I've narrowed it down to either the Sigma 10-20mm or the Pentax 10-17mm.
From the reviews I've read, both of their corners are soft and not very sharp.
I like the fact that the Pentax get's a less fish-eye effect as you zoom, but I'd really like that extra 2mm that the sigma has
So, please weigh in on this. If you have either lens please post some of the pictures you've taken with it, and share your experience.
If you also have any suggestions please feel free to comment. Don't really want to spend more than $450 CAD
I'd mainly be using the lens for landscapes.
Thanks!
