Hi all. A few Butterfly pics taken recently, again with the 150-450 and TC combo. Given perfect light the detail can be amazing. The first 2 are of a Red Admiral, and uncropped. The last is a Skipper, and cropped in at around 50% (I never use a specific crop factor). Butterflies have been slow to emerge this year, as our weather has been... temperamental. Plenty now though, thankfully.

I also thought about the KP, but I hated the way it feels in the hand. I've given up on Pentax being successful in matching Canikon in the noise control stakes. I bought the wife a D7500, it's way better at high ISO, sor I've gone that route as I also wanted a 600mm zoom, something we don't have. I'm still keeping the Pentax gear, but will sell my zoom stuff.

Yeah, that's kind of a shame, perhaps if it were a €300 Tripod it would have.... Oh hang on 😂

Dream lens indeed, but really too heavy for handheld. The 150 - 450 is just manageable.

Something a little different from the usual wildlife, but all shot on the DA 150-450, albeit at 150mm. This was a really enjoyable display at Hever earlier this year.

Something a bit different to the wildlife I usually shoot with this lens. Shot from around 250 yards away at 150mm. It's better than a lot of the wide angle shots I took. Winkworth Arboretum in Surrey, UK.

Evening. A couple of shots taken recently that I have had a play with. Quite pleased with the results, but all critique accepted as it's something new for me.

In my case, a Velbon Ultra 655 with a Manfrotto Pro Ball Head. I looked at a lot of new tripods recently, but unless I wanted to spend Gitzo money, I couldn't find anything as stable or robust. Everything up to £350 seemed to have very thin lower legs and therefore low stability.

Lovely shots Gaz. They are a nuisance too. My father in law gets them in his garden. They decimate the peanut feeders!
BTW, do you own every desirable long lens!

Evening. We have been extremely fortunate to have a juvenile Male Osprey take up residence for 3 weeks at a pond not too far away from home, and so we spent a day photographing him last weekend, with varying amounts of success. The AF on the K3 II really didn't do well with shots of it diving and catching, therefore I don't have any. I did, however, get some respectable flight shots. Taken using a variation of single centre point focus and AFC, and 9 point multi focus. All of these are around a 50% crop too. They aren't really fast birds, that definitely helped. I'd appreciate any feedback. I'm ditching this lens and camera soon, I need more reach, so I need to swap brands to accommodate. Just for the Telephoto stuff though.
