I would regret selling any of the lenses I have, quite picky what I buy, so they're not going anywhere soon...
got a nice line-up of aluminium Zeiss Jena, 2.8/35, 2.0/58, 4.0/135, Pentacon 4.0/200 as well as the takumar 50 1.4 8 el. for when some extra light is needed or different color style. Then a helios 44M for the bokeh (fleamarket at about 10 bucks) and a A. Schacht travenar 4.5 135 which is just a daft lens, front part can be screwed off, the long tube behind it has no elements at all, the m39 can then probably be screwed into something else, but what? tried it on my bellows, but kinda defeats the idea... any other idea's why that might be? Meantime playing with the 20 blades in that little lens front...
Only lens I might consider selling is a Tessar 2.8/50, but usefull on my bellows and worth next to nothing, nice in my silver zeiss line up.

I was standing right under an arch of christmas lights when I created those rainbows, flare conditions couldnt get worse.
Here a photo from the front element, taken through the lens from behind with my phone... looks not nice (it is magnified) , next photo taken from the side, no apparent scratches. Lesson for all; watch out what you use for cleaning your lenses...

hmmmm sounds like commando style.... I'll first will try to make a photo that shows up effects from the scratches. Here an example that one needs a lenshood... Will use the Ihaghee shade from by biotar next time... also a picture of the christmas tree on the Cologne christmas market, the 1.4 at high ISO still produced a picture that is kinda nice. missing my tripod at the time!!!

polishing also changes the lens itself if only slightly, i guess enough to have an impact. It takes photos just nicely now. Would be interesting if some one has experience with changing front elements, meanwhile I will enjoy my Tak, probably get a new Canon (100D) to go with it, so I can focus using live view and make the most of the very shallow DOF

Hello,
I got my first tak, a beauty, but with scratches on the front element. I was wondering whether one can replace this with the front element of a SMC 7 element version, adding the advantage of a good coating, thereby making a true Super Takumar ;)
Ideas or experiences anyone?
regards Huib

I use a piece of wood and a hammer and bang it back in place, worked on my Biotar and my Tak 50 1.4 8element like a charm. I cut the brush off a brush and use the (flat) stem as a dovel, the wood is nice and hard. file off a curve on one side similar to your lens screw radius, put the lens on its side, place the dovel on the bump, and hit it with a hammer, the windings will dig into the wood, protecting them, but the dent will go out.

I found a Zenit EM with a Helios 44M from 1980 ( Olympic edition) on a fair in England for 20 pounds, not too bad, just a bit dirty... Photo's came out nice though, I think I will keep theHelios on my Canon for a while

Nice to see there are others who appreciate this lens. The flektogon 35 2.8 M42 in silver was my first Zeiss Jena, meanwhile i have the Tessar 50 2.8, the Biotar 58/2 and the Sonnar 4/135 as well. ( a 80 or 85mm still on the wish list...)
Here are a few of my first pictures taken with this lens
