Getting a hang of K-1. Really worth waking up early and taking pics with it)

I like the 28-105 optically, but my K-1 & 28-105 suffer from shutter shock effect throughout a massive range (1/30 to 1/200), and I see myself upgrading to 24-70 in future just to get rid of that annoying effect.

Why bother inventing a box to live in? Just do photography. It's a tool for artistic expression, not science. Unless you're doing documentary work (press etc), do whatever you like, or whatever your client wants. Who cares what people online think, they're just people :)

I think Sony squarely cornered the younger photographer market. I guess unlimited marketing budgets works wonders. My younger cousin is salivating about every new sony body and lens that is announced.

Interesting. I don't even need that many lenses, over time with my K-1, I find myself reaching for the 15-30 and one of my fast 50s most of the time. I think I can make due with a very minimal kit with a MF camera, a wide lens, and nice fast portrait lens, and that's about it.

I got my GRIII to carry around with me at all times. However, I would buy MF for the next step in IQ from my K-1. I think MF is the only way to get even more detail and quality than what K-1 offers (every single other FF body on the market would be just a tiny amount of improvement, if any).

15-30 works very well for astro, I had pretty good results with it. |

Could be shutter shock too. For sharpest results I prefer to use ES on a tripod. Removes the mirror and shutter out of the equation.

I've seen amazing landscape photos taken with a Nikon d3200. Imo gear while being important, cannot replace being in the right spot at the right time.
To me this is a pretty beautiful image shot on a pretty old apsc camera: 500px |

I personally really enjoy the images I get from my K-1 kit - K-1, DFA 15-30, DFA 28-105 (for longer reach when I need it), Nisi S5 filter system (CPL, 10 stop ND), and Marumi CPL for the 28-105. Plus a good sturdy Vanguard tripod.
Not the lightest kit out there for sure (wish there was an F4 UWA option personally). But the results are pretty good imo. |

Would be nice to have 14-28, for even wider FOV :)

Thank you! Yes, 21mm is a good compromise. I took my griii with the wide angle extension on hikes, and images came out really nice too (it's a 21mm lens equivalent).

Hmm. Not sure I'd be interested in the 40mm version personally, however I would LOVE more attachable lenses for the current one. I got the UWA attachment, very nice. If they could somehow make something like that, but a 50mm, I think that would sell quite well. Lens is plenty sharp, should have some wiggle room. Previous GR had few more of those I believe.
Monochrome GRIII might be very interesting too, however current monochrome profiles work really well for me
