420 fox...
Had the opportunity Sunday (April 20) afternoon to photograph my local red fox, and it didn't strike me until later that on 4/20 I coincidentally shot at 420mm - Tamron Adaptall-2 300/2.8 360B + Olympus MC-14

Foxy had both grass and munchies...
And then left, looking awfully "relaxed"...

Updating an image taken in 2013 with 320 Tri-X Pan that had expired in the year 2000. The film was stored in a freezer. The expired film's base + developing fog density was noticeably higher at a density of 0.48 compared to unexpired TXP samples I measured in the range of 0.18. But with scanning we can 'zero the blacks' at any b+f density unlike making a wet print.
Edit: If you were to break the density range of an image into zones of density as in the zone system, zone-one is defined to start at the b+f density and end at 0.10 density above b+f to perhaps give a feel to how high a value of 0.48 is for a film's base density in 13 years of background radiation.

I got to this location (Sandy Camp Wetlands Brisbane QLD) much later than originally planned ( 9:30 or so instead of 8:30) - the day started out bright and sunny, but by the time I started to get any real bird photo opps, the day turned, not just cloudy, but dark overcast cloudy, robbing all my shots of bright fun colours........ |
