In all, the added options the GFX provides didn't make the experience of taking a photograph any better. In terms of image quality, the files are similar - quite outstanding.

645z + HD D FA 35/3.5

A recent fishing trip netted a bunch of turquoise and emerald colored Lingcod this weekend.
I learned the high diet of chlorophyll will even tint the meat a bluish hue.
An even better lesson was how it tasted - meat is very lean, flaky, and finely textured with a mild, sweet flavor. Good eats

The 90 is definitely the most realized lens for the system. I continue to hold on to hope that Ricoh put that R&D into a new or updated lens for the portfolio. Having shot with the GFX, I find there is marginal image difference.

645z + FA 150

I think this combo is my favorite, though I tend to have the 35 and 55 close at hand. I haven't tried the 75 yet, though very curious about it especially with the approachable price point.

645z suddenly underexposing

Closing the loop here.

I sent to Precision for repair on the 26th. They received on the 27th and I just received the camera back this morning. One week turn around time. I am rather impressed.

The issue was the aperture control assembly. Part was not in-house, though seemingly expedited from Japan. Camera back in hand, looking and sounding better than ever.

Thanks again for the help in isolating the issue.

Thanks Adam - in my daze, I hadn't tried a full settings reset. Unfortunately, it didn't net any results.

Though I did manually set the aperture ring (on the 35 & 150) and exposure is proper. Progress! Switching the ring to 'A' results in the underexposed images.

I've posted a few examples here, if anyone had the time and interest to help pinpoint the issue - https://app.box.com/s/cndjvx0saulu5aaqgelbze154t1nt49t

Unki - I've done this to myself more than once... not re-adjusting EV compensation. I wish it was that oversight. Dreading the thought of having to send the body in. I had my 150 go in to Precision and it got relayed to Japan. The turnaround time is brutal. Thanks for the consideration.

I've searched through a few threads that touch upon this, though haven't seen anything that I'm specifically experiencing. If I've missed that, apologies.

A couple of days ago, I noticed my camera began severely underexposing images. Nearly black, unless there was an intense light source. Even then, very dim.

I triple-checked all my settings, even engaged & disengaged settings and modes such as mirror lock. Removed and reconnected the battery. Tried a different fully-charged battery. Changed shooting modes. Changed lens, back and forth, checking connectors. Attached the af540fgzII and fired test shots w/ it.

Today I came to realization I did not have the dos recent firmware, so that is now updated to 1.30

Unfortunately, no changes. I am still getting very dark images.

The only adjustment that seems to help is switching to live view. Yet, even in this mode the iso wants to jump way high.

Has anyone experienced this? I'm hoping to explore all possibilities before sending off to pentax.

Thank you, all.

Adam, it seems Eric no longer repairs lenses (at least this type), due to inaccessibility of parts from Pentax.

I'm going to check some of the others listed on the sticky. Really appreciate the guidance everyone.

Hello,

I was shooting today and suddenly my lens stopped auto-focusing.

The motor will wind, though no change. Interestingly, the motor drive will wind in short intervals when trying to focus on something close and wind continuously when trying to focus on something in the distance.

Manual focus works fine. I've switched to my 35, 55, and 120 and all function as expected.

I've taken the battery out, i've engaged and disengaged the MF clutch several times. Still no response. Just the motor winding.

I have tried looking for information on the web and on the forum. The closest article I've found is and article from here back in 2012 regarding SDM lens AF failures.

Has anyone experienced something like this?

I thought it may have been due to heat, though it's been resting for hours in a cool environment with no change.

Any insight or suggestions are appreciated. I'm mentally preparing to have it serviced, though hope maybe its something mechanical that can easily be dis- or re-engaged to return functionality.

Regards

I may be late, though here is a handheld shot taken with the 55mm at iso 51k. Only light in the bar was candles and this drink being made table-side.
