Market share is the issue. Ricoh has done a poor job of updating, developing and keeping pace with new technologies, along with promoting their products. Their slice of the market is minuscule therefore they get ignored.

In the early’90s I purchased a Pentax 67 with the 45 mm lens which is equivalent to 22-23 mm on a 35mm body. I loved the combination and the fact that you didn’t have to have both 120 220 backs. It was a great system.
I started with Canon 35 mm cameras. The A1 was the first and transitioned to the Canon digital cameras in the mid 2000s which were all APS C. When Pentax introduced the K1 FF at a great price point, I jumped on it. It is well made and a great stills camera with many of the controls accessible via manual settings rather than menu settings.
The K1 is a great body and at the time it came out I thought that Ricoh might be more committed to camera system development with this new introduction. However I sadly no longer think that Ricoh is a viable camera manufacturer going forward with a tiny market share as smaller manufacturers are struggling ie: Olympus being sold off. I don’t think Ricoh capitalized on the Pentax brand/history and fear it is headed in the direction of Olympus.

I haven't read all 8 pages of this thread, but with the larger prints from the higher res sensor is a big advantage. Better shadow detail is also available. From what I've read it uses the Sony sensor that is well rated.
