Nice composition! I like the mist, the bench on the side and how the tower seems to break the clouds.

Hi!
Wow, that's probably the nicest compliment I've ever had on my pictures! Thanks a lot!

Hello Guys,
Thank you for your answers.
I did not know that you could work on a specific part of a picture, everytime I wanted to brighten up a dark part, I had to give up the colors of the sky or something like that. This is most interesting! However, as you say, I prefer to limit the post processing to a minimum, and to spend more time outside. I want my picture to show what I have seen in the shot. If some post processing is needed to make this better, good, but it has to stay the shot as I saw it.
Anyway, I like how you both gave it a go on the house, and how both pics look completely different! Also, I like the flower! How did you manage to get it so sharp and bright, without killing the background?

Hello guys,
Thank you for reacting to this.
I am glad to see that I am not blind, and that the differences are not clear for you either.
What I did was, for pic 1, crop the left part and play a bit with highlights and shadows. For the second pic I mostly brightened the shadows. As I could not see a notable change and as I did not understand what the rest would do, I didn't go much further. Sorry if this is lazy! :o
Concerning the software, I use Lightroom.

Hi guys,
Hereunder 2 pictures I took in/around Aalborg, Denmark. As I said in my previous post, I am new to DSLR and post processing, and I would like to have some feedback about what to do. I don't really have the "eye" yet for what to improve when the pic is on my screen.
When I look at the original pictures and processed picture in the end, I even almost see no difference :(
I upload 2 rather different pics, both in the original and my processed way. What would you have done differently?
Thank you already!

Once again thank you for your valuable feedback!
I am using Lightroom myself, and I do have a histogram in the "develop" window. I guess I can grab the shadow, highlights and mid grey points on this. I will try it as soon as I am back home!
Anyway, thank you for your help! I guess the best way to improve is taking more pictures and posting them here to get feedback of people who know what they're doing :)

Hello,
First of all, thank you very much Cthulhugan for you comments. This is very valuable to me, as I said I am new to DSLR and I have no clue of what I am doing when I come to post-processing.
Could you maybe tell me what you mean with "bringing up the mid tones", "the midtone slider in levels", "pulling down the tone curve a bit"? I'm sorry if these are stupid questions...
Concerning the format, I do shoot RAW, as I was told exactly what you said.
I know these are a lot of pictures, and I will post much less next time. In the meantime I would like to thank you again for this feedback! This is what makes me want to improve.

Hi guys!
So, this is a bit stressy, but here is a selection of my first DSLR pics, after starting photography for about one year on film before. I hope you see a lot of mistakes in them so that I can improve!
Context: we went on a road trip through the Croatian coast, from Krk to Dubrovnik and back, These are 21 of the roughly 200 pictures I kept of these 7 days. They are of very different kinds, as I can't really decide for now what I prefer to shoot. I do very little post processing, only some exposure and contrast if necessary.
Hope I'm doing this right!

Thank you all for the warm welcome, I wasn't expecting it that way but I'm impressed!
I am sure my Pentax adventure will be a great one, also with this Forum!

Hello everyone!
I have been reading Pentax forums for a while as my in-laws are Pentax fans since years. I personally have started playing with a Canon FTb camera on film about a year ago, and somehow the photography virus got me.
Today, I bought my very first own DSLR, a Pentax K-S2. I am hoping to be able to make some decent shots one day, although il will probably take a lot of training.
Some of my Canon FTb photography, with an awful lot of misses but some pictures I am proud of, are here
I am happy to enter the "family"!
All my best regards,
Maxime :)
